I think a mix of both ideas would be cool, have a reproduction logo, but you could have it stamped on the box, manual, and possibly cart if need be. I like the idea of dedicating some instruction book space to give credits and details.

If you find a copy of Dragon Hopper let me know =P

Awesome work Ben and Thunder! Finally I can play this game and know what the hell is going on 🙂

I want both of those! One can dream..

Nice, those patches look handy! I might make an easy version for flashing. At least in ROM form it means an extra step to play, which might deter me just enough not to ditch playing the retail version =P

Welcome to the site!

Cool man, good to see that the majority is done. Can’t wait to try it

That’s MK.

I just make the FlashBoy+ cart and the repro game boards.

(which wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for bigmak securing the BNIB donor carts)

Whoops! Kind of combined two people there =P
Either way both of you have done great work!

Thanks for the kind words. I am actually still in search of precious, original Virtual Boy information, primarily that which is contained in the Japanese language, and I’ve actually found some interesting things recently, which I hope to share and later translate. Nevertheless, I’ve been rather stressed and busy lately, so I don’t know when I’ll get to it, but I keep on trucking.

Ooooh, it’ll be cool to see what you found! I know all too well how life can be a stressful time suck.. Hope the stress levels come down soon for ya, it’s not fun being stressed.

Of course it’s not a useless post! Some of the great folks around here have helped in breathing new life into this system over the years. It really is remarkable. I’d also like to thanks some of the people here.

Eric (Bigmac) – You were nice enough to sell me your Japanese display unit, and you’ve always been nice to me, since I first joined. You have a genuine good person vibe to you that’s rare to find on the internet. Not to mention all the time (and money) you’ve invested in making the Virtual Boy better for everyone.

Minestorm – Flashboy. Need I say more? Actually, yes. You’re also a programming magician, what, with the fighter engine and Gameboy emulator.

Thunderstruck – The amount of stuff you’ve done to improve games, the games you’ve made, the tools you’ve developed.. This community and the progress made really wouldn’t be near where it’s at today without you.

Benjamin Stevens – Your dedication to this console is astounding. The sheer amount of research you’ve done blows me away. Thanks to you there’s so much more information available for everyone to see.

Runnerpack/TheForce – You guys are actively keeping Virtual Boys functioning, and that’s so cool. Thank you for literally keeping these consoles alive.

And of course Kri55e, who without him this website wouldn’t even exist.

I know I’ve missed some people, there are a few others that have done amazing things, and some who are just great people, I can’t think of you all right now.

I also get the feeling I may have said something I shouldn’t of in the past. If I have I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said it, and I no longer have the file I mentioned on my computer. The posts can be deleted if need be.

Ahh, that definitely makes sense that it started out as a Wonderswan game, thanks for the info.

I played it a bit last night, it’s pretty cool, kinda of reminds me of Lumines (Then again they’re both programmed by Q? entertainment). I definitely need to figure out how to combo better, as it stands I’m left with lots of lines that I need to constantly move down.

Wow, this is awesome! It was nice of Benj to take all these good quality photos.

I’ve never been able to get a copy of Elite to work properly on my NES everdrive. It works but always with graphical glitches.

I’d love to see a megaman game ported to the VB. One of the bosses could be “Red Man” or “Virtual Man” =P

I don’t think it was dumped, but I’m assuming I wasn’t the only one who got it. The only reason I say there might be more copies is because I’m not the only one listed in the credits, and that’s my only guess as to why I got it.

As for publicly saying it, oh well, let them message me. I just stated in that post that unless everyone agrees I’m not sending it to anyone. I don’t want to anger anyone, and I’m certainly not in the position to make the decision myself.

if i ever sold my copy and got “thousands” for it, i would put that money back into getting a new game written for the vb. how cool would that be? like a proper metroidvania game! something like cave story!

at some point, someone is going to dump the ROM. it is inevitable. look at the point you made about all of those rare games having ROM dumps available. with ROM dumps usually come custom carts. we could even potentially get a different VB flash kit at some point. you never know.

Hey, we could start a Hyper Fighting fund raiser of sorts. If I were sell mine for thousands profit I’d also put it into a new game. Money is just money, a new VB game is priceless.

The ROM may not be dumped, but I know at least one copy is out there. I’m sure I’m not the only one who got it. Either way I’m not releasing it unless it’s the consensus of the community.

Nice! Glad to see that wasn’t much of a hindrance for you. You’re just ploughing through this!

The first link in this thread? I was referring to the part in that article where Nintendo got an eye doctor to test the system for potential health risks for your eyes.

Wow, thanks for posting this speedyink! That’s by far the best researched and written VB article I have ever read and I learned a lot of new things. Hopefully it will be able to change the image of the VB in general consciousness and correct some of the many misconceptions that are still cemented in way too many heads.

No worries, Krisse! I clicked on it thinking I’d just be re-reading stuff I’ve already read, but to my surprise there is a ton of great info I’ve never heard before. I also hope people will see this is understand the console better (although it is the internet in 2015..my hopes are fairly low =P)

Wow, that’s really cool! I think you did well, not official looking but it also doesn’t look chintzy. I’m also curious as to how 2 player HF was like =D

Thanks man!

I also wondered that. There’s some other interesting stuff too, like why there are so many warnings, and the research that was done that proved it was actually good for the eyes. It’s too bad that research never finished in time to promote it as a benefit. Instead the media went in the opposite direction, latched on to all the warnings and used them as ammo for their ‘unhealthy’ campaign.
