Hey Everyone,

I’ve been working with Kevin Mellott for a while to make the upcoming HF32 even more accessible. Therefore, I created a Windows application that allows you to manage your SD card.

There are 2 versions: one for production cards and one for prototype cards. If you bought a regular card you want to go with the hf-application-prod-1.0.0.1.zip.

The core features are:
– SD card management
— Add games to the SD card (Picking many might take a while)
— Automatic detection of most games
— Suggestion of labels, icons and padding mode
— Update of label, icon and padding mode on the SD card
— Add new label files
— Import labels from bitmaps
— Format your SD card to FAT32
– USB connection
— Access some developer features through the USB connection
— HF32 is automatically detected
– Firmware updates
— Check if your HF32 firmware is up to date
— I deactivated the actual update for now since I can’t test it
– Software updates through the application

Fwow13 and Kevin did allot of testing and the application is in a quite stable state. However, there might still be bugs. You can report them here if you find something. I intend to add more features to this application next year.

Awesome. I’m sure this’ll keep me busy when I can find a good chunk of time to spend on it. Thanks Thunderstruck! 🙂

Awesome! Great job.

Great stuff, can’t wait to put this to use 🙂

Great, thanks
I haven’t received my HF32 yet. Is it normal that the hyperflasher does not start if the HF32 is not connected?

It should still start. I had someone else reporting a problem like this. I will add some more logging into a future release to see where it’s coming from.

Here is Release 1.0.0.2.
– Fixes problem where the application crashed during label import
– Adds feature to convert bitmaps to label without having a SD card plugged in
– Allows to set the tolerance during label conversion to support messy labels
– Hopefully fixes display on high DPI monitors
– Fixes some minor issues with the USB connection

I also spend some time writing a release script that is configuring everything and building the zip files for me. You can get the new version from the zip files below or hit the “Check for Updates…” button in the Help menu.

Thanks for all your work on this thunderstruck!

Agreed, looks great! Can’t wait to try this out

Here is Release 1.0.0.3.
– Adds icon import/converter
– Hopefully finally maybe fixes display on high DPI monitors
– Logs last crash to lastCrash.txt

It would be great if someone who has problems starting the application could start this version and send me the contents of the “lastCrash.txt” that is created after the crash.

I am using 7-zip.
With Windows Explorer, it works.
No problem with the zip of the version 1.0.0.1
I’m testing Prod version.

Attached the file during the crash with the correct zip extraction.

Here is Release 1.0.0.4.
– Hopefully fixes the bug where the application crashes on startup
– Optimizes the detection of HF32 via USB
— Adds logging to HF32 detection
— Adds retry to check on a port multiple times
— Saves the last successfully used port and tries that on first next time
– Changes the flow of firmware updates (Check is necessary before update)
– Checks if the firmware version is actually higher and not just different

I did test the firmware update and it worked fine. However, I’m waiting for Kevins ok before activating it.

Sweet! Can’t wait to see what this is like. I downloaded a VM specifically for when this was available. I’ll be adding this to my Hyper Flash video!

Here is Release 1.0.0.5.
– Fixes some minor issues
– Activates Firmware updates

As always, you can also update through the application.

The firmware update uses avrdude in the background so there shouldn’t be any issues. You want to be careful though. Don’t be inpatient and do something crazy like closing the application, restarting your PC or something like that. There is a log button in the top-bar just left of the “minimize” button. You can press it to see what’s going on in the background. Make sure you use the correct version (prototype vs production). If you are not sure what version you need you most likely want the production version.

I also simplified the release process for new firmware versions. This should enable Kevin to do these more often.

Great work, as always Thunderstruck!

Here is Release 1.0.0.6.
– Fixes problem where Firmware updates fail due to missing driver
– Fixes problem where the application crashes when icons/labels have the wrong size
– Adds long item support

As always, you can also update through the application.

Special thanks to Fwow13 and Mumphy for testing.

Howdy!

I just tried to update my proto unit, and it failed. Here is the log – let me know if I am doing something wrong?

I have 2 units – one updated fine, one didn’t (the log below).

Card is still functional at 1.1

Thanks for your great work on this application thunderstruck!

@mathew looks like it actually executed the update but the verification failed. Never seen that before. Can you try again?

Yep – tried a few times, and just tried again – same error.

Matt
