Original Post

I was chatting with morintari yesterday and he mentioned the adjustable stand, the one that never got released, and if it was possible to make it. To make an exact copy would be very costly but i did do a design for one a while back using aluminum extrusion profile some laminate board and an existing stand bracket, so this design would replace a stand as it needs the bracket.
the unit can be adjusted up and down the length and clamped in place with the clamp lever, its only rough but would probably work ok.
Anyway i said i would post a pic of it so here goes….

Haha good one, johnny5 alive.

I do want to get the aluminium bits black anodized but we very rarely get that done at work so i just have to wait and slip them into the next job that calls for black anodized frames.

Just seen this, looks fantastic mate, Job well done.
Need to pull my finger out and get mine finished.

I finally got round to finishing my stand. Its not as professional as yours Hedgetrimmer but im happy with the results. I made my own clamp out of aluminium which works very well and is very secure.

What is kinda funny where i normally play VB i have this stand set at almost the same hight as the offical stand. oh well, i got the option now.

Heres some snaps.

Kudos VBmills, Nothing short of amazing. 😀

Looking good fella.
I like the clamp too, small and simple looking but got to be a heap stronger than the plastic.

I have been contemplating getting the aluminum parts on mine, sprayed or coated black, might have to get it sorted now there is some stand competition going.
Your base is way cool BTW. Top job.

Thanks for the comments.
Yeah the clamp is nice and secure, my VB is going nowhere.

I did think about spraying the alloy bits but was worried about it scratching. But saying that I do kinda like the silver alloy look.

I am half way through another one that when/if I get it finished I may auction off just as a one off.

I can not wait until 3D printers are common in the home. Then maybe we would just be able to print things like a small stand or plastic visor. Perhaps maybe even replacement lenses with transparent plastic.
