Hello planet of red and black, I need some help. I want to start making games, but I have reached a problem: The software is difficult to get. The development wiki said I needed Cygwin, but when I tried downloading it, it took like two hours and was not even 8% complete! So, I abandoned it. Any tips on downloading this faster? More practically? Please, help a newbie out!

The other developers will disagree with me, but you can just use gccVB 1.0, which is precompiled for Windows. It’s a bit outdated, but it’s been good enough for me so far.

Just go for the VBDE (http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4537&forum=2). It comes with the latest gccVB and all king of other cool stuff. Just make sure you use the script from this post:
