Greetings all! New to the forum. I have several vb systems including a store display unit all with glitchy displays. I have tried the oven fix to no avail. Can someone direct me to a resource for repair?
Thanks!

Where are you from? And since you already tried the oven trick, I assume you can send the displays without the VB head unit itself, saves a lot in shipping costs 😉

I am from the Cleveland Ohio area. I can remove the displays with no problem. I have roughly 8 units that I would want done. I have been collecting for a very long time and I’m usually pretty good about repairing classic systems but sometimes I am a bit out of my comfort zone like with this one.

Hello everyone I too am in need of a repair. I would attempt the oven method, but my security bit is not long enough. I did order one though, but I’m not too sure of myself. I hope someone can help me. Thanks. I am located in USA West Virginia zip 26444.

You may want to open it yourself, perhaps not to do an oven repair, but just so you can save a lot on shipping by just sending the cables themselves out for repair. If your bit fits freely into the security screw holes then you are half way there. Just make a notch in the end so you can turn it with a regular screwdriver. After that consider replacing your screws with these: http://www.grattanfasteners.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=065003&Category=9442bbcb-92a2-4178-b89e-6e8e0efa0cd2

I thought about that. I’m not scared to take it apart, I thought about trying the heat gun trick first before getting too excited. I know the DMG game boys are easily fixed with with a solder iron or heat gun. I have had success fixing two with dead pixels. So I’ll give it a try later this week. I’ll keep you all updated. Thanks again.

BTW, if you don’t want to buy a proper screwdriver, Lester’s suggestion to modify your bit is a good one (if you have the means/skills to do it, which you most likely do).

I bought my first vb unit last week… The guy said it worked fine when I got it it had vertical line issues… I did not bake mine in the oven I used my wife’s blow drier. I found that not only did I have to melt the glue, I had to make sure the ribbons were placed right. I had to take the headset apart 8 times I used the blow drier 3 times and had to play with the Ribbons 5 times.
