I’ve noticed that the review for Mario Clash only gives it a 6 out of 10, so I was a bit reluctant to buy it. This is a bit surprising to me as I’ve always enjoyed the original arcade-style Mario Bros more than any of the Super Mario-type games.

I saw a copy on eBay for just $10 plus $5 shipping so I bid and won. I received my Mario Clash cart just a couple of days ago. Hey, I gotta say this is a terrific game!

I think Nintendo did a great job of taking the original Mario Bros and updating it for 3D. I’ve spent a few hours playing it in just the last couple of days and I’d put Mario Clash on a par with Galactic Pinball as one of the better games for the Virtual Boy.

I find it doesn’t have very much re playability though. So that’s my main problem with it.

My problem is that A is usually jump in Mario games and for some reason it’s B in Mario Clash.

Not. Intuitive.

The messed-up button assignments are the main reason I rate it lower. But the somewhat repetitive gameplay keeps me from spending time on overcoming the control problem 😉
