Nice video (like all the one’s you make).

BTW you could do what Me and Chris did with the first FlashBoy boxes.

I printed the template onto A4 self-adhesive paper and Chris applied them to Mario Tennis boxes (we used them as donor carts).

That’s my box art! πŸ™‚ I’m so glad to see it put to good use! πŸ˜€

I hope you’ll be doing a Dragon Hopper template someday.

oh god, me too man.. me too.. has anyone actually tried a comprehensive treasurehunt for that source code? do we have names of people who worked on it? lol

Excellent video Shenmueso!

But as Minestorm has stated all of your videos are high quality. So I shouldn’t be surprised. Tell me has anyone attempted to make a template for the cardboard inserts that come w the games? I did a web search for it but found nothing.

I’ll take one apart and post a template if needed.
I’m back on VB projects this weekend and picking up the Chalvo art among other things.

that would be sweet.while you’re at it, fancy doin one for the n64? lol.

nah but really, ive been wanting to find a template for cardboard inserts for vb and n64 for ages.. never got round to trying to do one myself..and the few people selling them charge ridiculous prices for them, i couldnt find a template anywhere on the internet.. that shit should be public property not exclusive to evil resellers on ebay lol

I don’t know why people charge so much for them, it’s actually easy stuff, just take the insert apart, measure up and mark a template with cut and clue lines. They’re always designed for one sheet as it’s cheap and easy to manufacture.

Heck, they even use standard card that you can buy from any art / office supplies shop so its easy and cheap to make authentic ones.

I hadn’t mentioned this before, but something I’ll be doing on my Bound High insert is printing some extra info and maybe a small Chalvo image on there with a PlanetVB URL etc.

Doesn’t usually happen for cost reasons, but why the heck not? Repros aren’t impacted as much on packaging cost that retail games are, so I think it’s ok to play with the authenticity balance in those kinds of ways every now and then.

aye good point. id have to check but im sure last time i inspected an N64 insert it looked pretty darn complicated and not like it was from one sheet.. but yea, ive just been lazy i guess in not attempting to make one myself.. the vb inserts look a little simpler tho.

i think that idea about the logo sounds excellent.. all we need now is a manual to be designed.. again, something i could do myself but probably wont lol

Great video mate. great looking box, i think i might have to get myself down staples.

I made an attempt at digitizing the VB game box insert. It’s in Google SketchUp format here:

I’ve attached a .PNG in case you don’t have SketchUp and want to give it a try. Cut on the solid lines, fold on the dashed lines, and discard the gray sections. It’s 302 dpi (it just happened to come out like that when I exported it from SU, so I left it; your printer should be able to handle it), and it fits on a U.S. Letter size sheet of card stock. Make sure your printer doesn’t scale it to fit the printable area. I suggest using IrfanView to print it.

If you do give it a try, let us know how it went, so I can make needed corrections. I did “virtually” fold it in SU, so I know it’s pretty close, if not perfectly usable, as-is, but YMMV πŸ˜‰

wow, great job! XD

Thanks! If you make any, please post photos.
