Dear Virtual Boys & Girls!

I feel very excited to post the first VUE-MASTER reel today: the VUE-MASTER Demo Reel!

Some of you surly remember the VIEW-MASTER, or even Tru-Vue. Both stereo image viewers were successors to the classic stereoscopes of the 19th century, which let you experience stereo image pairs in real 3D.

VUE-MASTER turns your VIRTUAL BOY into a stereo image viewer! Just like the classic stereo reels, the VUE-MASTER Demo Reel features 7 stereo image pairs: 3d photos as well as renderings I made. Many thanks to Hedgetrimmer, who provided his VB stand & controller 3d models!

But VUE-MASTER is even more: it’s an easy-to-use template for VBDE, that also enables non-developers to convert their own graphics to VB-ROMs – just by following an easy step-by-step guide!
It was developed by KR155E and will be included in the upcoming release of VBDE! I will also complete the step-by-step tutorial till then …

I feel that there’s much more creative potential in this community and that there are many people like me, who don’t have any programming skills, but would like to work and experiment with VB graphics. And I hope that this tool may release some of this creative potential.

Just imagine what you could do with this … you could make your own mock up reels for your homebrew ideas! Or post reels of your 3d photos or artworks! Or making 3d comics! Or just reels for graphical testing, playing around with the possibilities of the VIRTUAL BOY

So let’s REELease the river and flood our beloved 3d machine with thousands of beautiful, interesting or ugly pictures!

This is awesome! Also please remember that you can make stereo pixel images in ProMotion NG
https://www.cosmigo.com
I know you know that, but others may not know it. The two technologies together would allow you to make any 3d graphic not just be limited to 3d models.

This is the coolest friggin thing! This takes me back to my childhood when I’d spend way more hours than I care to admit, playing with a View Master.

Thanks, both of you! 😀
Soon, we can exchange our reels on the virtual schoolyard! Without having to ask the adults (programmers) every time 😉
Tool + tutorials are on the way …

That is fantastic! I’m so thankful for all you guys working hard to bring this to us that can’t contribute in regards to coding. <3

Maybe a special area of the website or a pinned forum topic should be created for posting reels so everything is in one place and not scattered around various topics.

Yes – might be a good idea. We wouldn’t have to flood the development board with our STICKERS and BADGES … 😀
Maybe “Virtual Boy Graphics Board” under Virtual Boy or just “VUE-MASTER” under Planet Virtual Boy

Tool:
• included in VBDE (both Light & Pro version)

Tutorials (also included in VBDE download):
How to prepare 3D images for the VIRTUAL BOY
How to make a ROM from your PNG files

There’s also an updated version of the Demo Reel ROM (v1.1) attached to this post (with changes to the main menu mostly).

Somehow it would be cool to print the reels you do on film, glue it in that paper wheel and watch it on such a real thing. Would be a cool bonus for the Book project 😀

Yes, I already had a similar idea for a physical release (of a vue-master special edition flash card maybe): there are still vendors, that manufacture VIEW-MASTER reels with your custom images … 😉
But I would of course feel very proud if a printed reel would also be part of a Virtual Boy compendium!

I like your thinking! 😀
