Original Post

Well, some topics seem to get off ‘topic’ lately, and get into a discussion of repros and the process…what we are doing next ect.

I thought it might be a good idea to post stuff on this thread..organize it a bit.

Maybe make other threads that deal with cart shells or if we have a viable connector ect.

Now…where are we atm with reproductions

Well let’s see

I’m planning on sending out the free carts still. Need to get the labels..I’m going to send out 70 carts it looks like.

People that get a free cart can order the packaging at tusks website. The packaging has a small hold up on the hint-book. We’re not sure how much it will cost yet..depends on how many pages the instructions and hintbook has…Poster looks really sweet..morintari did the artwork for the poster and hintbook ect..

For people that want to buy one CIB…we will offer a few CIB (25?) (should the labels be the same?) Funny thing happened. After I released the rom..I stopped getting emails about copy-write stuff.

Blox will be released soonish..we’re going to do a small release at first (25) to make sure there is interest. Blox 2 isn’t going to be done yet..small issue with the save function.

Fastball: remastered still looks like it’s a go. Most of thunderstrucks changes that he has planned has been coded..But the job of coding 50 + levels might take a bit.

We’re going to do a small resupply of the boundhigh/space pinball carts in tusks store (25 of each). This will be the last resupply planned for a bit..so we can get other games done. So, if you haven’t gotten one..order them now (will be a few weeks til we get the new carts in)

After that..nothings been decided.

If we do an english version of gundam..prices will be higher. Richard has to make it have sram..so production costs on his side will be higher. I can prob get the batteries pretty cheap on my side..and install them in the USA.

Other ideas…english version of space squash (if it gets fully translated). I think this is a much better game (fun) to play then gundam. But, you really NEED the translation of gundam to play it..while space squash you can just pick up and play. So, not sure on which one I’d like done first…but I’d like both done.

Homebrews ? Should we split the more ‘commercial’ releases with homebrew releases ? I guess we’ll have to see how well blox does.

Fishbones…

gamehero…

Soviet Union collection…maybe horvat can combine his roms into one ‘collection’..if he wants to..we can do a release with that…

Virtual Chris came out with a bunch of games..maybe a collection ? have to see the interest

Anyway..just wanted to update people on where we are at.

Also, 3 kinda small points I want to make..might seem small..but I want to get it out there before any potential problems happen…

1st. My thoughts might not be Tusk’s or Mindstorm’s…so if I posts my thoughts here..please don’t take it as their thoughts πŸ™‚ Just cuz I say something here..doesn’t make it ‘official’ stuff.

2nd. You can post want you want to see done..but even if we get 20 posts saying ‘we want gundam’..don’t be upset if squash or something else is done first. Maybe we can get to the point that we have a vote on which game comes out next…but we aren’t there yet. We might not have the chips for a certain game..or the manual might not be done ect.

3rd. If I talk about games about to come out..or plans for future games..doesn’t mean we’re doing pre-order’s πŸ™‚ It would be helpful to know how many people are wanting to buy a game..but I don’t think we’ll be taking money ahead of time yet. That first bound high thing was a bit of a mess. Tusk had the packaging..then all of a sudden we could do CIB’s..but people didn’t seem to understand the time it took to get the connectors send them off to mindstorm..get them back..put the carts together ect. If we do any type of pre-ordering thingy..I think Tusk will post on another thread or something.

Howdy-

I’ve done a quick search & haven’t found an answer yet–sorry if my search is weak. :]

I’ve ordered the Faceball packaging from Uncle Tusk & want to get the Faceball cart. I understand that a limited run has been made & has all been spoken for.

What’s the future for getting Faceball? Is there a waiting list for another run, perhaps?

Thank you,
-Jason

You will likely have to send PVB User: UncleTusker (http://www.planetvb.com/modules/usercenter/index.php?section=profile&uid=2945) a PM about this.

The intention that bigmak announced here:

http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=24554#forumpost24554

was that about 25 complete-in-box copies of Faceball VB will be made available for sale at uncletusk.com in the near future. This still has not happened yet. What was supposed to have happened is that only people who received the free carts from donating would order the box, instruction booklet, and hint book to go along with their cart if they so desired. If somebody did not get a free cart and wanted one, then he or she was supposed to wait until the 25 complete-in-box copies were made available for sale at uncletusk.com and then order the whole package at that time. Thus, I would recommend sending PVB User: UncleTusker a PM, informing him that you already bought the extras and asking him if you can simply purchase one of the 25 carts when they are made available in the near future, since you didn’t realize that they could all be purchased at one time soon.

My prototype cart arrived the other day! I tip my hat off to this kind gesture and I’ll be sure to continue to support you guys in the future! <3

Can't wait for Remastered! πŸ˜€

Is it correct that the original title screen in SD Gundam Dimension War, which contains the Japanese characters for “Gundam,” has not been altered in anyway for the English version of the game that is going to get the cart release soon, or is there a surprise waiting for everyone?

I need to know since a screenshot of the title screen will be appearing in my instruction booklet, and I want it to be consistent with what appears in the released game.

I just sent the finalized English instruction booklet file for SD Gundam Dimension War to UncleTusker today, so that is now crossed off the list.

Is this the correct order for the next releases?

1. Faceball: Remastered
2. Fishbone
3. Space Squash

If so, does this mean that I can expect a deadline for the Space Squash Instruction Booklet to be more than several months from now? I’ll try to get one done for Faceball: Remastered within a month or so, and I’ll try to make it as different as possible from the one for the Prototype version, so that people have something new and exciting to look forward to.

I’m pretty sure that’s it. Have to confirm with Eric.

We are making a lot of Remastered, so that will take me quite a while.

So you’ll have plenty of time, and even longer to do the Space Squash manual.

BTW I had a proper go at Remastered last night. Wow, what a different game it is now πŸ™‚

I just had a look at it and seems possible. Just tell me if there is a need for this.

Ack…..game is done thou. Chips are flashed..batteries added and checking of the save function is already going on. I think we’re a bit late to make changes on this…

Yea..with Gundam coming first…maybe 1.5 – 2 months in-between releases. Or, this was my thoughts.

I’d prefer that just for the sake of my wallet! Hahaha

That sounds like a good timeline. Then since Faceball: Remastered won’t be released until 1.5 to 2 months after SD Gundam, I won’t worry about working on the Faceball: Remastered Instruction Booklet until about mid-July. I’ll be very occupied with other things until then.

Oki…long time and no updates πŸ™‚

We’re just rolling out the releases. This is both good and bad. We all know the good..more vboy games!! I think the quality of the games and releases are top notch. But, on the flip side the games are expensive to make. And the way we’ve been churning them out…we’ve decided to put more time in-between releases. So, right now our plan is to have a release about every 1 1/2 to 2 months. If this still looks to be to quick..we’ll space it out better.

Tusk has added the Faceball: prototype edition to his store. This is a direct copy of the prototype of the game. It was decided to release it in the raw form for people to enjoy. I’ve sent out A LOT of free carts and people have been picking up the packaging to make it a cib game. But, now people who didn’t receive a free cart can buy the full cib. I think the game is great and I still play it πŸ™‚

This marks our 4th release. Bound high, space pinball, blox and now faceball: prototype edition.

ATM I have some boards here to restock some of those games πŸ™‚ and I’ll be working on those sometime next week. I also need to open up some of the baseballs to get connectors to Mindstorm. So, those are my projects i’ll be working on.

The Gundams are done and are in Tusks hands. He’s finishing up the packaging (with ben’s help) and we’re set to release them next.

The connectors I need to send to Mindstorm will be used for the next release Faceball: remastered. Faceball: remastered will be a more complete game then the prototype rom. It will have a lot harder difficulty, a ton of new mazes, a new enemy..and lots of other additions.

Next will be fishbone..and then an English translated space squash. Then possibly blox 2 ??

So..atm…let’s look at now and far into the future.

4th release is in the store..Faceball: prototype edition

1 1/2 to 2 months later

5th release. English translated Gundam

1 1/2 to 2 months later

6th release. Faceball: remastered

1 1/2 to 2 months later

7th release. Fishbone

1 1/2 to 2 months later

8th release. English translated Space Squash

9th release….blox 2 ?? (has a problem with the save game atm)

Wow, I’m so proud of the support we’ve gotten and it’s amazing what people can do for such an underdog of a system.

Great job guys! I’m so glad that there are people still committed nearly 20 years later to this console. It really makes me feel great about my recent purchase. There’s actually going to be original content being released even though I’m incredibly late to the game.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say, Thank you for all your hard work. I’m truly amazed at all this. Here I thought I was buying a dead console just so I could bring back good memories of Red Alarm. Little did I know it’s actually still supported by an amazing community.

Thank you guys again for your amazing work! You are all truly fantastic. So far your releases have been nothing shy of excellent and I fully expect these next releases to be the same. I look forward to picking each of these up as they come out. Now my (and I’m sure pretty much everyone on here) hope is that sometime during your timeline Dragon Hopper and/or Zero Racers (G-Zero) are found and can be reproduced. Keep up the fantastic work guys and thanks again for everything!

Thanks again for your guys’ hard work and dedication. If I had a Gold Medal of Virtual Boy-ing, you’d all have been awarded many moons ago. πŸ™‚

That release schedule sounds great. I can probably squirrel away ~$80+ over 1.5-2 month separations. Just… don’t tell my girlfriend. πŸ˜›

Got my Blox & Faceball games in the mail today–such a professional pair of products–thanks for your efforts!
-Jason

My copy of Blox also just arrived!

As usual, I can’t praise the work done here enough. Many, many thanks for all the time and hard work done by everyone involved.

Another very high quality, top-notch release, and another great addition to the collection! Many thanks to KRI55E, Tusk, bigmak, Ben, MineStorm, and everyone else!

Looking forward to the next one! πŸ˜€

Just got my copies of Blox and Faceball in the mail. Keep up the good work guys. You keep putting them out and I’ll keep buying them. I love seeing my collection grow with great titles like these. I can’t wait for the next game.

Well, long time no update πŸ™‚

Lot’s of stuff has happened since my last update…so let’s get started.

We’ve released and English translated Gundam a bit ago. Lot’s of mixed feelings on this one. When I was collecting and I picked up the Japanese version (which is very hard to get)..I put it in and played it right away. Couldn’t really get into it. I didn’t know if it was because of the Japanese…or that I couldn’t get into the close combat or 3-d playing boards. Despite this version being in English..still just isn’t an enjoyable game for me. Maybe for others..but isn’t my cup-o-tea. Funny thing is. I don’t think we’ll make any more CIB’s of this. So in a collecting standpoint..might be the one to get πŸ˜› Kinda ironic.

And then the auctions started. People are selling these Gundam’s for huge amounts of money. I’m fine with people selling our stuff. Hey, you bought it ..it’s yours. But, it just bothers me when people don’t list it as a reproduction. I don’t want people ripped off on something we created. Now, I really didn’t think it would be a problem. The games we are releasing..haven’t been released. Nintendo never released ‘Bound High’…”Blox”. But, I guess an English translation of an expensive game is different. I don’t think this will be a problem again. We will release an English translation of Space Squash (great game btw..if you haven’t played it)..but the cost isn’t nearly as high as Gundam. Also, I’ve talked to Tusk..and on other games who’s boxes haven’t been designed already..I think we’ll make a logo or something to make it easier to identify the CIB games as reproductions. That’s the steps we’re taking..and if anyone see’s an auction that doesn’t identify these as reproductions..please report it. Help other people out that..just might not know.

Hyper Fighter: Been getting a bunch of questions on this. Amazing demo wasn’t it ? Now..will we make a CIB ? I don’t know. Honest. How big will the game be ? Will we need to design new boards ? Do the coders want one made ? If we compensate the coders for the game..will the game be too expensive for people to buy ? Lot’s of questions need to be answered about this before we can say we will have a release.

Vboy coding compo: We’re supporting this as fully as we can πŸ™‚ There’s currently a vboy compo going on at planetvb. We’re donating carts/boards/boxes to the winner. Can’t wait to see what people turn in. For all those homebrew gods out there…try it out πŸ™‚

Now…where we are at:

Gundams out. The next release will be Faceball: remastered. I’ve just finished carting up 100 copies and they will be on the way to Tusk this weekend. We’ll still wait a month or so to release it. We want to space these releases out πŸ™‚

Next will be Space Squash. The plan was going to be fishbone next..but the order got messed up somehow. Some boards were already started on Space Squash..so we’ll just go with it. I’m sending mindstorm 144 more connectors this weekend..so we can get a great start on finishing up that release and move on to the next one…fishbone πŸ™‚

What’s after that ? not sure yet..we’re talking 5-6 months from now. Maybe Blox II (if the saving feature gets fixed)…gamehero…Hyper fighter ????…a game from the coding compo ? We’ll have to see πŸ™‚

I’m ordering another 6 cases (288 games) of baseball. So, we’ll have plenty of parts for quite awhile πŸ™‚

As always…all of this is subject to change. Nothing is set in stone.

The future of the vboy looks bright *RED*.

-Eric

A logo might be a smart idea as long as it doesn’t detract from the rest of the box art too much. I wonder if you’d have any grounds to have certain auctions taken down. I’ve seen a few outrageous prices but would hope anyone actually looking for VB games will know better and the dumbass seller ends up sitting on the game.

Faceball is what I’m looking forward to. Guess I really don’t know enough about the others.
