My Virtual Boy leans to the right. I tried to unscrew the stand but when I go to tighten it again, it moves itself to the right even if I hold it in place. I’m wondering whether a new stand would be good for it or if I can fix the one I have.

I’m not picturing what you mean, can you post a photo?

Is it the angle adjustment that is being unscrewed & then tightened?

Here’s a picture to illustrate what I mean.

I’m also confused about what you’ve been (un)screwing. Can you remove the screws and take good (well-lit, hi-res, non-blurry) pics of the back of the plastic Nintendo “medallion”? Also, have you compared the two metal legs to see if they’re still symmetrical (especially where they attach to the clip)?

It wasn’t any of the screws I was unscrewing, i was talking about twisting and turning the knob on the side of the stand. Here’s a picture of what I think is the medallion.

Mmmm, it certainly is leaning in your first pic, can’t see or think what might cause it.
Can you take the big thumb screw out and dismantle the clip assembly, it could be something trapped in there between the ratchet discs and when tightened it causes it to tilt.
Just taking that bit apart, cleaning it and putting back together might solve the problem.
If you have a macro setting on your camera, a flower symbol, that will allow you to take fairly close up shots without being blurry.
Let us know how you get on.

From the last picture, it looks like if the metal part is bent and that could cause your leaning problem. Not 100% sure, but it definitely looks like it.
In that case, trying to bend it back or buying a new stand should solve it 😉

I did some fiddling around and it looks a bit better now. I’m not exactly sure what I did though.
