Original Post

Hi,

Posting a separate thread specifically about my VB cart programmer. As I mentioned in another thread this can dump the ram/rom space of any VB game. Also allows writing to ram/rom of my custom 16Mbit carts. I’m adding support for my larger 256Mbit cart as well.

I’ll be building a few of these programmers in the next month or so and I’m wondering if anyone has any interest in them. Some free ones will be going to developers for games that need the larger 256Mbit cart. This is really meant as a developer tool but putting it out there for anyone. PM me if interested.

You can see more info here: http://www.mellottsvrpage.com/index.php/virtual-boy-cartridge-programmer/

Thanks,
Kevin

I know, but I feel it would be better, because you won’t have to salvage VB cart connectors.

Hello.
I’ve recently been informed that Kevin’s VB Cart Programmer can successfully dump the Hyper Fighter ROM. It would seem that with this piece of custom hardware, this project would be extremely easy to complete.

If anyone can help me out who is either within an hours drive of me (doubtful — reads like 25 of these may exist) or willing to send me their programmer… I would like to dump my ROM.

If you think you can help, please PM to start a discussion.

Playing around with the printer between HyperFlash32 work. I call it the VENOM edition. hahaha. It will have a white on black LCD display as well. 3D printed carbon fiber. Surface finish is quite nice and its super strong.

It looks menacing!

That looks sick!

With that being said….how much for a venom edition and a couple reprogrammable carts? 😀

Sold the first one already. I have one left. And I’ll keep the third. PM me.
The screen will be white on black OLED, not LCD. All parts in route.

Pm’d!

If any of you purchase these, I also have a handy case for these you can get.

I ended up getting parts for two more if anyone is interested.

One will have the white on black OLED screen. The second will need to have a red on black LCD screen.

Got my case from Schwanck. Looking good! Just need to get a black USB cable instead of my red one.

Pretty slick looking!

Wait a sec… How do we tell which serial number we have?

=P

Weird. Some site formatting won’t let me display the command but its GSN surround by <>

Oh there is a way!

Ok I’m gonna go ahead and noob this up. Is that terminal, CMD, or which program?

RealTerm, or any other terminal program.

VB Cart Programmer Quick Start Guide

The GSN serial number can actually be overwritten via another command in the EEPROM. However, there’s a serial number that prints at boot up that is hard coded and cannot be overwritten. Probably better to use that one.

Well took a bit of learning but your guide sure helped.

Looks like # 21 here.

Also looks like I’m on firmware 1.2….guess I should update it..Gonna do some poking around to see if there’s firmwares on your site or something

Email me. Programmers fall into 2 batches and the code is not interchangeable. Well, 3 now with OLED versions. I’ll recompile using your serial number and send you the hex file for updating.

That would explain why I can’t find it, lol. Email sent
