My wife borrowed a Vectrex from a colleague at work. We played around with it today and I was actually surprised how fun some of the games are. It came with following games CiB:

Soccer Football
Flipper Pinball
Scramble
Hyper Chase
Armor..Attack
Space Wars
Cosmic Chasm
Clean Sweep
Berzerk
Fortress Of Narzod
Ripp Off

All of the manuals and Boxes are there but the Boxes and cards are in rather bad condition. The guy told her he is willing to sell it. However, I can’t tell what a fair price would be.

Anyone a good guess?

Wow! How much for everything? Vectrex stuff is EXTREMELY expensive. Good thing Richard, maker of the flash boy, makes one for Vectrex, too. 🙂

vectrex thats very nice .
I had allot off it ( almost evrything that had been realesed ) but have sold it all.

A boxed vectrex i sold for 180 euro ( good condition and compleet )
losse vectrex for about 70 euro ( good condition )
games have diffrent prices most off your games you call are 15 to 35 euro,s each iff they are compleet and with overlay.

hope i have help you out
greetings

The vectrex is an awesome console.
I think minestorm is making flash cards for it you can ask him if you are interested.

I recently bought one for £110, no box, good condition, all working, it came with a 72 in 1 cart containing all games and some homebrew. I’m very pleased with it.
It sure is a good console, nothing looks like it graphically, and the games are fun.

Thanks for all the responses. I think it is a little to expensive for me right now then.

I would love to get a Vectrex myself.

Love vector graphics and love the 80’s feel of the machine. Generally speaking they are silly expensive at the moment for a working one…

Would love to get one though..

Fortress Of Narzod is a personal favourite. Interestingly there is a version of FON for the C64 which I do own. Its very enjoyable and almost the exact same as the Vectrex game. Very awesome!

I am trying to find interesting ‘substitutes’ for Vectrex games. I don’t think its right to just emulate although having said that, the ParaJVE project is looking very good:

Hope you get one soon thunderstruck!!

My wife actually ask the owner what he would guess what the Vectrex including all games would be worth. He guessed 40$, so I could have bought it for a pretty low price. He was pretty surprised when my wife told him the actual value.

Oh man, you missed out if you didn’t get that. I bought a Vectrex last year from Craigslist here in Colorado — US$80, no box or games, just the unit and the controller. It was a great deal, though! I love to pull the thing out and show it to people. People just don’t see displays like that these days…

I *really* need to pick up one of those flash carts one of these days…

Ah! $40 would have been a wonderful deal, sorry to hear this!

I purchased two consoles, advertised as broken on ebay:
The first, I won for $20, coming in with just the unit and no controllers or games. While I was cleaning it, I flipped it on its side to get some dirt off, then when finished I plugged it back in and it worked just as normal! I think there is a loose solder connection between the two boards, but so far I haven’t had any problems with it!

Searching hard for a controller, I saw prices go from $50 to $100 for a used one. I finally bit the bullet and purchased another broken Vectrex unit with controller for $75. That one has proved to be a problem to fix and I will need to discharge the CRT which I am afraid to do.

I picked up a VecMulti from the Atariage forums for $70usd, and it was worth every penny! Highly highly recommended! Works perfectly and I can play every game I throw at it. I just wish developers would release roms of all those amazing homebrew games.

I’m in the process of printing the manuals and am searching for a good local printing service to get the overlays printed as I feel like I am missing out on some of the experience.

Those sharp vector lines though, so amazing!

If there were two consoles I could keep out of my entire collection, it would be without a doubt the Vectrex and the Virtual Boy, my favorite underdogs of gaming history.

Totally agree, there is nothing else that looks like vectrex.
If you do find a good source for overlays I could be interested in a set, I recently got mine and it came with a multi cart so like you just experiencing the white vectors, overlays will enhance the vectrex experience.
