Hi everyone. After seeing the possible retail price and conditions of the Flash Boy, I was just wondering who’s going to buy a Flash Boy for sure, just to see how many people are interested. I’m one πŸ˜€

Deadly-D, I’m also excited about Flash Boy, so I understand you πŸ™‚ Enjoy your new Virtual Boy, it’s graphics with “depth” are unique, IMO.

ive been coming to this site for a long time ive been a vb fan since i bought mine new so many yrs ago im very excited about the flashcart and ill def buy one when they are released i have 10 games but would love to be able to keep them in their boxes and id like the 4 ultra rares hehe

I’ll buy one for sure! It would open up all sorts of possibilities.
Just for the record, I’d pay with Paypal.

Can’t wait til this thing is released, I have Richard hutchinsons Vecflash cart and its a godsend, the man is a blessing to those with an interest in playing hard to find games on innovative though undersupported hardware.

Just on a side note, it looks to me like the whole VB community is waking up because of the Flashboy. πŸ™‚

yeah, that seems to be the case. great effect. i’d love to see the same happen with vb homebew once the flashboy is out. πŸ˜€

It will probably help a lot to wake up the homebrewn, since it will allow for testing on real hardware, which until now was very difficult.

I have been around for awhile but never posted. Real excited about the Flashboy and will definitely buy one when they are available.

Count me in. I buy it 100%.

Howdy!

Just joined, plan to buy. I found out about the Flash Boy over at Atari Age, where I’d purchased Richard’s AtariVox Speech Synthesizer.

I picked up my VB back when they were on clearance. I managed to acquire 11 games for it at the time.

I’ve been active in the Atari 2600 world for a while. I used to maintain the OS/2 port of Stella before I switched to OS X. Last year I wrote an updated version of Warlords called Medieval Mayhem. You can try it online if you’re interested thanks to a new Java port of Stella.

Please count me in.
The only way I can pay is EUR cash by registered and secure letter.
Thanks

Hello all
I’ll buy one for sure πŸ™‚

Count me in. πŸ˜€
I’m a new member, but I really like the look of it.
Can’t wait!

i have a box of carts for that, so you don’t have to. but i think we’ll offer several options.
a) complete set
b) you send in a cart to modify (cheaper, but shipping cost would kill that advantage, so i am trying to get large amounts of carts)
c) build-your-own-flashboy kit (only the build and tested board and a sticker to put on the cart, you’ll have to solder a cart connector to it yourself) (cheapest)

How about:

d) advanced build-your-own-flashboy kit (bare board, set of parts, and label sticker PDF) (even cheaper… like $10? *dreams* πŸ˜› )

For those who can solder but are too lazy to etch a PCB (and are long-lost friends of one of the developers ;-))

(No, I still haven’t made a flash cart… 😐 πŸ™ *ashamed*)

First time poster here but put me down for one Flash Boy πŸ™‚ I came from AA forum (I see a few familiar faces here!) I also posted a link to someone’s eBay auction that had 46 Virtual Baseball games a few days ago so dunno who really got it but it would mean 46 cart connector and shells to make more FBs The auction has ended: 280161819686 and the final price plus shipping would put the price of Baseball at $1.65 each, very cheap even for a VB game.

Right now I’m trying to put my store display back together and get it cleaned. if the USB cable for flash cart fits inside and I can find a cheap USB device or cheap laptop with USB I could change game and leave it as display. My display is the counter version like: http://www.vr32.de/modules/hardware/index.php?type=displays&model=dphase&sub=counter_version

Me, me, me! 100% I can pay by paypal. I would also offer to send you a box of VB baseball to pay for it. I only keep one sixpack the rest can go to the FlashBoy project. Or I could just sell them to whom ever produces the carts. I don’t feel like building my own, I’m scared of bricking the thing.

I’m new here, but this sounds like a great thing to pick up. Sign me up. But a quick question or two…

Do we have any idea what type of ROM’s that will be available ie. homebrew or demo’s ect ?

-Bigmak (Eric)

welcome, eric! i don’t think i understand your question. do you mean which homebrew roms are available? you can find a complete list under games > homebrew.

I think the question is more like: Which ROMs will work with the FlashBoy? If the question is that, the answer is simple: All available ROMs (homebrewn and “others”). Of course Eric, bear in mind the absence of “backup battery”, so all will work, but you won’t be able to save your game in titles such as Virtual Boy Wario Land. In fact, I think this is the only game which desperately needs the battery, because the others are just for records and such.
