I have updated the game a bit:
– RT- + LT-button crash fixed
– paddle speed increased from 2 -> 6, paddle bounce added
– field size increased (upper border moved higher)
– obstacles added

Plays quite well as far as I can test it.

Oh, wow! Thank you very much 🙂

Hi,

VUEngine Studio is the way to go at the moment:

VUEngine Studio Preview 6 is out

There is also a tutorial, which is also for non-coder easy to follow:
https://www.vuengine.dev/documentation/
If you manage to do the first steps you should easily be able to let your desired 2d logo to be shown.

Vintex64 is still confirming a release late this year. The contact they have is pushing them to build up stock.
I assume this means preparing the PCBs before programming them when they get the rom.

Thanks 🙂

Tronimal has offered me his help to create a creepy soundtrack.
I already have a short preview version, which fits nicely.
I hope that the VUEngine team can overcome the audio editor issues which still exist, so that Tronimal can finalise the spooky song.
I then will upload a new version here.

Is the source code still available somewhere?
The bitbucket-link gives me an error.

EDIT: got it, it is here:

Thanks! Sure 😉
There was the vibration function missing in the credits screen, so I updated this:

Here is another release, V0.6.
Quite some changes this time:
– Title screen music added
– Arrow as starting point added
– Story added
– Player moves actor, who can trigger events
– Ending screen added
– Outro screen added
– updated controls by Jorgeche

Known bugs:
Pressing Pause deletes the story completion printing, as well as pressing Select to see the camera position etc., so be aware of that.

Creepy music is still missing, but overall I am quite happy with this release.

Thanks to Jorgeche for answering my annoying questions regarding the controls, and in the end he had to do it himself 😉

This is the second video with portals testing, which is insane!

@Planlos1988: PizzaRollsRoyce wrote on Discord, that there should be a demo “in a month or so”.

Yes, that is also my most urgent question: real hardware or any modification needed?

To give a quick update: I could implement an actor, which is now controllable. The camera follows him. With this actor one can trigger pieces of a storyline at certain places. The game will hence be a bit of mystery-search-storytelling-adventure. At least this is what I can do with my humble coding knowledge.
The storyline is roughly complete on paper (it has some Silent-Hill-vibes), I have implemented 4 trigger points so far, which is roughly 30% of the story.
The game will consequently be rather short, with an approx. playtime of 10 minutes. This is what I at least imagine at this point of development.

What I still need is:
– creepy background music
– good controls; so far the rotation around the y-axis is not working
– ending screen.

Thanks to Jorgeche and SylvainRx for their help and ongoing support. And thanks for the VUEngine team in general, as well as to the whole VB fanbase, which is really nice and supporting.

I personally miss Zero Racers more, since one has no real racing game on the VB.
Hopefully by the end of this year we know more 🙂

My 2nd VB is also a Japanese one, with nice serial number:
V10108000.

I also try to use this site and add bits of information here and there.
It is so well structured and has so many knowledge, it would be a shame if people only use Discord.

This is crazy. There is a playable version, one person digs it out 25 years later, shows it to Nintendolife and Nintendo still forbids a release? It is like showing a child a present and then saying this is not for you,…

It was mentioned twice with a retail price of 49USD in “Computer Games Strategy Plus” November 1995 and December 1996.

Thanks for sharing! It is incredible what you find out there 🙂

Only a minor update, more for the sake of completeness.
Changes to V0.55:
– new core from 14.03.2025 –> gas station is rendered correctly
– bits of grasses added in the scenery here and there
– updated title screen with blinking “Press Start” and change selection sound

Thanks to Jorgeche for the updated core, and thanks to SylvainRx for helping me out with the blinking “Press Start”.

Yes, I coated it black recently so it looks nearly like the real deal 😉
