Thanks for the update! Sounds like I’ll need to set aside *some* money for VB games in the near future, heh.
I’m after Insmouse, but not anytime soon, sadly. I’ve poured a few too many dollars into the VB this year, so I have to hold back.
That Insmouse box looks *fantastic*! I started reaching for my credit card, but the specter of my girlfriend gave me a nasty look from afar.
Good luck Ecto!

entex adventure vision: http://www.gamegavel.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000734948Adventure Vision utilized a built-in screen that used a single line of forty red LEDs that when combined with a spinning mirror allowed for a screen resolution of 150 x 40 pixels. This was also the same technology that powered another woefully received portable console, the Nintendo Virtual Boy. The Adventure Vision utilized the same core processor as the Magnavox Odyssey 2, the Intel 8048.
pretty rare system. i’ve only seen 1 other up for auction in the last 2 years, neither had a full set of games.
Oooh, awesome find. Those are pretty rare indeed. Glad to see so many cool pictures of one.
You guys are all just the best. It makes me happy to be a part of this community. Thank you all!
Wow, very jealous! You didn’t manage to pocket the game while you were on your way out, eh? Heh.
Hopefully someday that ROM will be released to the community. I wish I could afford to buy it and do exactly that. :/

why not print something on the box that says its a reproduction? in fact, that should be considered so that something like this can be released without the fear of ripping off buyers.
+1, in my book. I like that the Bound High and Space Pinball boxes have the subtle nod about the Nintendo Seal of Quality, but I think if UT is to get into he business of reproing actual boxes, there should be some sort of “reproduction” label on it that’s visible somewhere on the front.
English Gundam? Now we’re speaking my language. I haven’t fired it up in my Flashboy yet, but I’ve watched almost everything Gundam, heh.

Welcome to the forums! Sorry to hear it’s under bummer circumstances.
I’m sure runnerpack’ll do ya good. The solder fix is definitely the way to go if you want to keep playing your VB games… but you’re right: It might be better off selling.
The Mario Tennis Box itself is worth a little bit — ~$100 by auctions I was looking up earlier, if it’s in nice condition.
The Performance AC adapter is supposed to be somewhat rare, too.
My initial reaction to a Mario Tennis box is to be opposed to it. It seems likely that some people might order them and try to sell them as if they were the “rare” for display only boxes… but then again, sales are likely to be pretty low volume…
Making a box that’s mostly the same as the existing box can lead to consumer confusion… though not among the 20 of us that collect the system, I suppose… haha.
I’ve opened one of my VBs a couple of times and I always put the security screws back in. Now, part of that is that it never occurred to me to put something different in, but the purist in me would want them, now that I’m thinking about it.
Welcome to the party! Great auction to win to get started, too! Insmouse is on my list, but prices tend to be a bit high…
Anyway, I have two units with glitchy displays and they both manifest differently. I’m inclined to say yours is also a glitchy display, but it also sounds like it could be a burn-out pixel (or one that’s not getting power or something). Very weird.
I’d say try to do the glitchy display fix anyway and see — just maybe you’ll end up with a fully functional unit! The soldering is tough (I’m too intimidated to attempt it on my units…), but I believe TheForce does repairs for people!
Again, welcome!
Good stuff!
I think TheForce does fixes for people, so you might be able to do that if your cables aren’t too mangled. If they are, you can probably buy a broken one on eBay and still have him do the fix.
Hmm, neat idea, but I have a feeling there wasn’t any work being done on a Pokemon game for VB in ’98, haha. The sound sounds good, so it might be a demo or a homebrew project like you say… Who knows!
I definitely recommend Galactic Pinball between the two. The gameplay is more strategic and varied and Teleroboxer is just too hard.
Years ago I wanted to beat Teleroboxer, but I couldn’t get past the Kangaroo. I should give it a try. Every time I play Galactic Pinball, however, it’s a new, good experience.

But then again… if there actually was a playable version somewhere, perhaps the gameplay could surprise me and could actually be fun.
Haha, exactly. Though, with a licensed game from the mid-90’s, I’m not gonna get my hopes up… heh.
Hmm, makes me wonder how far along Power Rangers got. Maybe there’s a proto?
I’m not particularly interested in it aside from “must have all unreleased stuff”, but… yeah.

I’ve already ordered a couple boards from retrousb and I’m planning to make brand-new cables that could be swapped in by the end-user, ideally such that the board can fit inside the controller. If the retrousb ones don’t work, I’ll check those out!
At least, if anyone’s interested. :p
I’m interested to see how it turns out. I remember retrousb used to have a different product listing specifically for the Virtual Boy but that has long since disappeared, so I wasn’t sure the NES / SNES one was the same.
Ah fudge, I might’ve misread the whole thing… in which case you’re absolutely right. I thought that DogP had used the NES/SNES ones for a VB, but I just read on his site:
I also picked up a USB Virtual Boy controller kit from http://www.retrousb.com and it works great, so I put a page on that up in the controller section.
which is in line with what you said — a Virtual Boy specific kit.
So, I’ll try to hook one up anyway. *shrug* Maybe it’ll do something, haha. If not I’ll convert one of my NES and SNES controllers and pick up a couple of those kits you mentioned.
That’ll teach me not to RTFM.
Either way, I think I can make something that is a cable that the end-user could swap out of their VB, no cable-cutting required, and I think that’d be neat.
Updated picture! I got Space Pinball the day after I shot this, so it’s still out of date, but it’s at least US box complete, now.
