Hehe. No, nothing happens when you start up the VB without a game, it does not have an Operating System (Or isn’t this the reason? Not sure, since even the Game Boy had a start up screen that was “built in”). If you want to know if it works, put your ears close to it, you should be able to hear the mirrors spinning, a humming sound.

Hey geo, VB-Store.com sells them in mint and complete condition.

Got one and love it! 😀

Some news on the topic, from an article by Bloomberg Japan published this morning.
Nintendo of Japan’s Managing Director Yoshihiro Mori confirmed that the new Nintendo product will be released in Japan at the end of 2004, and if it’s possible they want to release it worldwide then. The new hardware will be presented on the next E3…

No, “Planet Virtual Boy” ;p
/me slaps DrAetzn around with a large Xbrick ehm box

Next person that loves VB as I do is actually DrAetzn, only about 300 km away ;D

When I showed the VB to my best friend once, he borrowed it for quite some time and beat all my Galactic Pinball highscores… He never played it again after that, but that’s in is nature, he never can’t keep his interest for something up for longer than a week max. ;D Hmm, actually he played VB one more time, when I showed Blox to him.

Hey Max, nice to see you back!

Thanks for the praise, and… more cool updates coming soon 😀
I am looking forward to the tapes of your show, maybe we can do a little “special feature” about it or so, with screens and videos…

I have been playing a lot of GB and NES games lately, Metroid II again at the moment.

<http://dogpn.home.mchsi.com/VirtualBoy/Dev/VBLink.htm>
<http://www.emuunlim.com/VirtualE/spec001.htm>

Now THIS is “POAH!!” 😀

A Virtual boy Prototype :woah::woah:

Of course we want it be at least as good as Wario Land, but that will be a very tough job and probably take years. We’ll do our best.

We will release the rom and, most likely, the source and level editor too, so people can make their own levels, mod the game etc.

I won’t bet on it, but I guess chances are good that we’ll release it on cartridges as well (if we can get professionally made PCBs). Not commercially of course, just a few dozen carts for the hardcore VB gamers out there for the cost of materials (around $30 I guess).

Don’t get too high hopes, though, Mario VB is a huge and ambitious project… maybe too big for two people working on it in their spare time :/

KR155E

Well, SD Gundam and Virtual Bowling _were_ worth that much but I don’t think are still are at the moment.

KR155E

… And that makes even three of us ~_~

Maybe we should team up and make the ultimate-supa-dupa-VB-programming.guide-for-dummies(R) together?

KR155E

Oh yeah, please! I’d come back with a huuuge bag of VB stuff xD

KR155E

WTF O_O
But, well, the seller is from the UK, VB stuff is very rare over there… I didn’t know it was _that_ rare though :/

KR155E

Which difficulty?

KR155E

Here’s a mock up screenshot that shows how the game might look eventually:

Hey Max,

The hardware you meant was that: <http://www.vr32.de/hardware/verschiedenes/vue_debugger/video_boy/index.htm>, a Video Boy.

You can stick a video camera into the Virtual Boy, and connect the cam to a TV for “live pictures”. I tried that once and the output picture was good, didn’t tape anything though. A good idea would be too darken the room or put a towel on the VB and the cam, so that no light comes in. That makes the picture better.

What was that TV show you mentioned? Did you review the VB on some videogame show or something like that? Now you made me very curious 🙂

KR155E

Wow Dan, this looks KEWL, looks like a lot of fun! :woah:

Any idea yet which and how much mini games you plan to put in it? Any making essential use of the 3D?

I am speechless for now…

KR155E

I’ve been sitting in it! I’ve been sitting in it! Woot! 😀
