So cool, thanks for doing this!

@dudeway4
already asked all the good questions. I have just one to add on my mind right now:

Do you have any info on these displays that were around in Mexico at the time? https://www.virtual-boy.com/forums/t/prototype-virtual-boy-kiosk/

… with the wrong product number on it. Should be VUE-VZRE-USA. 😛

But anyway, that’s a brave move – or naive, dumb, suicidal… you decide. Will be interesting to see what Nintendo’s lawyers think about this, if they come across the listing.

I have been asked for higher res versions, so here they are.

Hey Al, welcome back! That’s an excellent timing for a return. 🙂

It is quite trivial to rip ROMs from NSO apps; people have extracted all the other VB ROMs already (they’re identical to retail), so you can expect to find ZR and DH on ROM sites soon.

Hey Ben, I finally found what broke your profile page and fixed the issue. Should work fine again now.

Great work, I love the graphics and atmosphere! Definitely needs the mouse for aiming, otherwise I don’t survive very long. It would be great to be able to reload at any time. And also being able to flee a fight. Right now, if you run out of ammo in a fight, it’s the end of the game.

Other than the Japanese version, the North American version was never announced to my knowledge. I have never come across a magazine mention. But there’s the ESRB rating to be found on the EESRB website that has been a very strong hint the game did not only exist but was also finished or at least close to being finished.

What a lovely idea, @Kary18, I bet your boyfriend will love that gift! MrCarts are no longer available on ebay, but they’re now made and sold by RetroOnyx – https://www.retroonyx.com/product-page/mrcart-virtual-boy-mulitcart

Here’s some mock ups I did yesterday. I didn’t bother too much with pixel accuracy, with replacing the sub title on the title screen, etc. Just a quick “what could’ve been”.

Finished Test Chamber. My gosh. I still can hardly comprehend what I just witnessed.

I simply replaced the previous ROM.

Oops, look like the game doesn’t check save data for validity, and cleanly initializes it when the data isn’t valid. So the game just interpreted whatever save data there was on your HF32 already. 🙂

These are fantastic! Thanks for sharing!

Lovely, thank you very much!

Heads up – the ROM has been replaced with a new build. Works fine in the online emulator now.

Awesome 8678D, Thank you for sharing! It’s great to have an open source alternative to the existing flash carts, the more options there are, the better. 🙂

Happy 30th!

The authenticity of the cartridge could not be verified, but Ben Steven got and dumped it. It was just the final version of the game, however.

Thank you for the scans! I can’t read anything, but that appears to be an interesting article they put a bit of effort into. The author missed that we do have a page on the EP-Rom cartridge, but nonetheless that user manual for it hasn’t been seen before and is an interesting new find.
