I’m not sure I am playing it correctly – I thought I got ok scores but it told me I suck every time 🙂

Highest I got so far was 90 something, but I still suck!

I thought I was missing something because I know VJ has a prototype console, I’m not too familiar with them.

Cool- did it have the orange sticker? I’ll be pissed if I have to send back in order to get a refund…

Better check with him again!

I thought the prototype VB had Super Famicom buttons and a different logo?

Can anyone else share this? Obviously Megaupload has gone down so I can’t grab it now.
Dang, should’ve got it ages ago and then I wouldn’t have to ask, but I’d love to spend some real hours fixing every detail.

Please help someone 🙁

Thanks BigMak. I saw it before but discounted as I thought it was long gone.

However, after shooting him a mail he said he still has it AND it’s new… Not sure if I believe that but it’s on its way so I guess I’ll either be happy to receive it or he’ll be unhappy to receive my reply.

Cool! Can’t wait to run home and try this! (leaves office)

Just to check, did you pad the game you flashed?
I’ve had the same thing and then realised I forgot to pad the file out.

Heh, why did they put an even higher reserve on it? SCHMUCKS.

If you wanted something like this, you could always get it made up yourself with an .EPS logo. It would cost a couple hundred pounds, but it would be the same as a genuine E3 sign as Nintendo don’t make these themselves or anything, it’s all outsourced case by case.

3DS doesn’t have the depth of field that VB has, that’s for sure. It can actually render things to fully pop out the screen but it’s not best practice at all.

Heh, I’m no writer – I wouldn’t want to even judge on story I’m afraid, sorry for the misunderstanding.

I can help out with graphics, but I’m not a professional artist or anything. I’ll post up some VB-related art when I can for people to see if they like.

Oh – the reason I didn’t want to assist with Insecticide is that right now I’m way, way too busy and this is VirtualChris’s pet project. I’d love to help if I could but I know I can’t do much this time around. If there’s a new project built from the ground up, I could definitely assist and pre-plan accordingly.

sorry double post…

I’d be happy to help Chris with any art related tidbits, though I feel Morintari and Virtual Ben have this covered.

I didn’t necessarily want to mention before – but I work in the video game industry professionally and can help with a base project if we do it properly from the ground up with a full GDD made up and all sorts. It’ll take time but if you’re going to do a project properly it really needs a producer, artist, writer, coders and testers at the least.

I struggle to find the time to finish my own home projects so I will bear this in mind for a future project, but right now I’m not much use.

If you look at something like Fez, a good indie benchmark – it’s taken these three guys years on their own so far. It would be a year-long project at the least to get something worthwhile. Cave Story took Daisuke Amaya independently 5 years to develop and test so I would suggest picking a good demo up like VBRacing or TRON and going from there, but that’s just my two cents.

Before I get any questions asking – I don’t have a high-profile job or anything, but I am familiar with how some AAA projects are started and run and common factors of success and failure (or so I’d like to think)…

Enough people do it for NES and SNES that I can’t foresee it being a problem. If Gamestop started selling them then Nintendo might get in touch, but it’s not going to land you in hot water.

If you want to be 100% sure – get legal advice but it’s money down the drain as they’ll only say it’s safer not to by default – it’s the standard lawyer’s disclaimer.

I personally think it looks ace, though it reminds me more of a missile defence-type game with the background.

Dig the logo though!

I think you missed all the sales…

I was lucky enough to pick up the Demo VB, very happy to have it!

Alas, I don’t have 10K to spare 🙁

If I were you Krisse I’d consider selling it back to Nintendo so that they can put VB games on the Virtual Console 😉

I’d love one of these as well. I think they’re really great.

What I’d give for a VB capture/debugger!

They’ll get released eventually. Until then it’s all about Homebrew I’d say 🙂

I wish the VB had a demo scene like the Gameboy and C64 etc..

I know what you’re saying, but what if Nintendo were working on some plans to bring Virtual Boy to the 3DS VC? What if, as part of the marketing campaign they decided – hey, let’s turn this ugly son into a great thing and stick that Griffon Jumper game we finished on there – the press would love that and write stories on to celebrate and not spend so much time talking about how it failed. That could be good, right?

My point is, they’re not kept in drawers to be never released, but because they think they might be useful one day, somehow.

There is one actually – try Nesticle for now, I’ll take a look later.
