I forgot about this one too, thanks for letting us know it isn’t dead. If you ever do get this finished I’d like to grab a copy to play on my system. The new stuff slowly creeping out over the last few years from some competent designers (like hyper fighting for example) are so few and far between it’s like real VB development is happening again. 😀

Thank you. Sadly, unless I get a publisher…physical copies will be sold in limited quantities. I am aiming for 100-150 to start, and even then I am unsure if I could maintain production.

The game is still in development. I am sorry for not updating everyone sooner.

I officially relaunched the patreon today too. If you enjoy the game, please consider pledging, even if it’s just a dollar.

If anyone here could get the word out to those who haven’t seen, it would be appreciated.

The cost we had in mind for it was roughly $15 or so. These will all be CIB but cart only is being considered.

The completion of the campaign we hope to do before the end of 2019, but it looks to be Q4 2019 or Q1 2020 before it will at this point.

@Lester Knight We will try to fit the game on a 2MB rom, but considering the amount of the art in the game we are unsure if that will be possible. Regardless, the game will be heavily tested on both hardware and emulator to provide a very good experience regardless of which version you use and choose.

@Speedyink when the game is released you’ll have the choice of which version you want to buy, but backers do get first dibs on the physical release!

@Lesser Knight the game’s main development has been on PC. The game itself has been optimized and designed to run on a VB, and the tools we make will also eventually get released as well to make game making easier.

The game will get released publicly, and we have made plans to actually make a limited run series of actual physical boxes and roms so you don’t need a FlashBoy. This physical version will also come with a brand new 90s-styled boxart in both US and JP variants. (Both are already done.)

@e5frog That is untrue. We started using Patreon due to the stigma associated with running a kickstarter/indiegogo campaign. We want to get this project done as quickly as possible, but without funding that cannot occur.

Hi all, long time no see. We’ve been very hard at work the last year and a half, with progress moving towards the tools and tech needed for both a PC and VB release.

HOWEVER! We need your help! If you like what you see here, please consider supporting us on Patreon! We need all the funding we can get at the moment if we have any hope of actually completing this project. All your support really counts!

So i’ve been looking into an actual virtual boy port, considering new developments in VB Homebrews this past year. Would anyone be up for that? I dunno if i would be able to do it completely by myself, so i might look for a team in the future to help with an official port.

I would honestly port Yan’s World as a proof of concept. I use Tiled to build my levels already.

Main issue would be programming, unless you somehow manage to have legit visual coding on this lol.

This could and would work. I’d be up for it, but I’d need some legit help

Huh I may have to do a little proof of concept with this. Hm

Hello…! This game is still in development, but I haven’t been posting updates here as to not confuse people and mislead them about this project, something I should have cleared up a while back.

This is not a homebrew. This is an indie game, which is not really something that I suppose belongs here. If you guys are interested in keeping up with progress on this, go check “http://reddit.com/r/yanworld”.

New player gfx I guess

Sadly not. I’m extremely early in dev ATM.

I STILL MAKE GAMES NO FEAR

So like, I’m actually doing stuff now. Actual development with actual levels and stuff. We have most of the music done currently and I have a pretty solid platform engine also done.

Ah thanks, that helps a whole bunch. I was aware of those emulators but I guess the other stuff you linked also helps.
