Ha, I just saw the other Virtual Bowling and didn’t even think to look for a second one.
Yeah, that is one of the English Gundam repros.
I guess that could be Space Invaders or Hyper Fighting, since those games are diagonal to each other.
My VB collection sorta exploded all over the house when I ran out of room in the little display case. So here’s just the general gaming situation.
Yeah I don’t believe they got a pack in title in Japan. So yeah, just a regular retail release.
Welcome back!
There’s been a lot going on lately, mainly the link cable progress and release, the Mario Tennis 2 player mode has been hacked back in, Maiden is a new game in development, there’s some other games in the pipeline that support the link cable, and an official Bound High proto has surfaced and we’re awaiting to see what that holds.
I know there’s more, but I haven’t had my morning coffee yet…
Dude, you should post it anyway. Even if it isn’t a prototype or something there’s still other cool uncommon stuff out there. I love seeing it all!
I forgot about this thread actually, gonna add something..
This is a Game Axe, it’s a true famiclone system but put into a portable, so it’s compatible with even the Famicom Disk System if I had one. It was released around the year 2000 in obscure shops in Japan, and as such it’s really uncommon.
Mines sort of halfway through repair, waiting for some parts in the mail. The CFL tube in the screen was broken when I got it, but I’ve since repaired that. Just the controller needs to be repaired now, although games like Gradius and Bomberman play perfectly with just turbo controls :p
Cool to see everything in that one picture
I’m also curious to see how this dump turns out 🙂

I’m curious, speedyink, what swag did they enclose?I used to enjoy writing letters to Nintendo at Nintendo Power as a kid. Nice to see they maintain that level of customer service.
Just some book marks.
Yeah it was cool to get a letter back, for sure.
It looks like a perfectly sunfaded one. Legitimate, but not exactly good condition.
I’m with Nes Freak, I think more people have been warming up to the VB in recent years. I’ve had a few people in other game communities start to ask me about the VB and how much and all that, and even traded one of mine to someone for something.
The price of VB stuff has gone up, not down, which seems to give the impression the demand is there.
Also I’m still rocking an unsoldered VB. Will get it done eventually, but for now, no issues whatsoever.

That’s a level of old school cool I really appreciate. Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad I’m not the only old school person out there 🙂

I love it. Despite it being a bit generic and scriptted, there was atleast a little bit of love written in it
Like LK said someone definitely wrote it by hand, following some guidelines. It was pretty specific to the letter I wrote. I’m happy it wasn’t just a canned response 🙂

Yeah, that is pretty cool! And a nice little piece to keep in the collection.I’m curious to know though…what did they end up giving you for swag items?
I’m definitely keeping this, I didn’t really expect them to write back so it was awesome to see in the mail. Nothing crazy, just some Nintendo themed book marks. Still nice of them though.
While I agree that it’s a long shot, I figured why not, it’s not hard to write a letter.
To me this would be one of their fan service products. I think over the years they’ve realized that there are quite a few people out there that like the VB still. Why else start mentioning it in random things(remember “all hail the Virtual Boy”?)
I realize that they can’t release all the games, I said in the letter even just the ones they have/can get rights to would be awesome, which does indeed include Wario Land, the one that would sell the most to the general public.
I still fully support the homebrew emulator project Guy is working on (otherwise I wouldn’t be a patron for it), but like I said, it doesn’t hurt putting the bug in Nintendo’s ear for an official (even if more limited) product.

I would like to be more optimistic but it’s been 23 years and nobody has even claimed they own a copy. We haven’t even seen auctions for a copy or anything else, unlike the other game prototypes that got released and had coverage over the years.
So?
The Nintendo Playstation had never been seen outside of a few pictures until like 25 years later when it popped up in some dude’s attic
The Pokemon Gold/Silver proto was thought to be long gone to time, but 21 years later it just comes out of nowhere.
Some dude just found an early prototype of the Playstation 2, I’ve never even seen pictures of it but he found it.
Never give up hope, you never know.
Well that’s not very optimistic..
I sent Nintendo a hand written letter a little while ago, nobody can resist a hand written letter! With Gameboy Camera pictures printed on a Gameboy Printer featuring Virtual Boy stuff =P
Sucks to hear you’re getting dicked around. Hopefully the end of it is sooner then you think!
For anyone using real hardware, use the number 3 padding option to fill with duplicates.
This is a very interesting way to render a landscape! Is this a form of voxel engine?
Glad to hear it all worked out. It definitely does suck when people bail on you.
Really cool, thanks for sharing! Always nice to see new games for this awesome system. Can’t wait for the kickstarter!
That’s actually the F Zero homebrew. Interesting project, but halted unfortunately 🙁
Awesome news! Minestorm said either bigmac or BenjaminStevens probably has the dumper right now. I’ll send them a PM
