Its pretty heavy with the Japanese, but it’s a fun little game! I like the sort of “immersion” they were going for, which starts as soon as you click on the .exe

Yes, this is the same seller, a member of NintendoAge that I’ve spoken with privately about the game. He knows absolutely nothing about Virtual Boy protos or collecting and admits as much. His reasoning for this high price was “I don’t know much about the VIrtual Boy, but I know it’s obscure so I priced this proto around the same as one would price a TurboGrafx16 proto”, or something to that effect. So he doesn’t know what he has, and doesn’t know what it is (or isn’t) worth.
That’s funny I spoke to him too, but on a different forum. I got the exact same answer.
No Jack the Ripper it looks like.
That’s freaking sweet though.
It may have not been listed for a while too, I am talking like half a year or longer ago. Pics look the same, so I’m sure it’s the same guy, and the price is the exact same as it was before.
This has been up for sale for that price for a while. I think it’s basically confirmed as final.
Oh man, great timing! Definitely gonna give this a play!
Well of all the people to get it I’m glad it’s you Ben. Now I know it won’t be lost into someones cupboard, but scanned and uploaded onto the site for everyone to see. Great to hear!
Great idea! I hope we can reach your goal, and so excited to see the games you guys come up with!
That looks like something they’d give attendees to a trade show of some sort so they could see the VB footage in 3D. It’s the early Virtual Boy logo that leans me in that direction.
Looking at the DefleMask forums it looks like they do a poll when they’re looking to add support for new systems. We should keep our eyes out for that.
Otherwise, all they other options sound great too. It would be awesome to have multiple options available to choose from.
Thanks Runnerpack! I’m totally gonna check this out (and send them an email of course too!)

I get ultra paranoid about opening Nintendo’s cheapo cardboard boxes too many times as you increase the likelihood of creasing the side flap.
Lol, I hear ya, when I get a new game it’s like surgery opening the box.
Oohh, that’s a battle you might not want to start =P I sure did like the cases Nintendo provided in the OG Gameboy era. Compared to the Virtual boy dust sleeve though (more akin to the SNES dust sleeve), definitely less protective.
Good eye though. I have a bunch of those GG cases (with carts in them, but still). Good to know it’s a good fit!
Oh wow, that sounds promising! I’ll try to get a good picture when I have it apart again to show size and gear count.
thunderstruck wrote:3. Music: If you know how to make music, that’s an important skill as well. Most Midis convert pretty good to the VB. For myself it is next to impossible to compose music.
I didn’t realize this. I’m gonna have to play around with it. I love making music, haven’t done much with MIDI but I know my keyboard supports it.

In that vein, Jorgeche and me are currently preparing a crowdfunding campaign on Patreon. We hope to raise enough monthly donations to be able to work less on our day jobs and instead spend that time on working on the VUEngine and making Virtual Boy games. It would be incredible if we could find enough support to turn our passion into a part time of even full time job and being able to release regular new CIB Virtual Boy games. :vb:
Oh man, Do it!
Welcome to the site! Was a good read.
I’ve never had the issue of my power pack becoming loose. I think it’s more of an isolated issue than a widespread one.
Oh maybe, standard Lithium Ion cells are 3.6V each, not sure about those specific ones. Either way, only .1V difference =P
It would be really cool to just be able to plug it into a USB for charge. Let us know how long you get out of your charge, I’m curious 🙂
I wonder how long it would last on that sort of setup, since the battery you’ve made would be technically rated at 7.2V. It would be cool to see how it performs over a period of time and if the system is ok with that voltage, cause having a rechargeable battery pack would be sweet!
Yeah, the font is thicker on the made in China one. I’ve seen it before, but can’t remember what it means..
