the hyper fighting (SFII) ROM is currently the only one that would not work (too large). it has not been dumped or released (yet — hopefully never — sorry — biased). meaning, everything currently released will indeed work. you’ll need to pad some games to 2MB with the VB padding tool. it is the same way for all commercially released roms, and their hacks and translations.

I suppose I support not releasing the rom, mainly because there are people that don’t want it released, and I totally respect the reasons that they have. I wouldn’t be angry should it be decided that it’s allowed to be released, though.

All that being said, the demo of Hyper Fighting fits on the Flashboy, and is still very fun. Because the homebrew section only contains the demo, it means everything in the homebrew section here will work on the flashboy.

Weird, he mentions that a racing game on the VB would cause headaches. Funny how VB racing and *gasp* Mario kart virtual cup don’t seem to be a problem. Imagine battle mode on the VB..watching a shell coming flying toward you, hitting you, and a bunch of coins flying in every direction, including towards the player.

Seems like a damn good idea to me.

Hey, that’s awesome, Ben!

Yea, I’m curious as well 🙂

Same here, was gonna bid but no shipping to Canada.

Ok, well I’ll probably get started on that tomorrow sometime, get some write-ups for a few of the games done. I’ll message KR155E when I’ve got it completed.

Yeah that would be a good spot. I know I read through the game reviews when looking at the potential games I wanted.

I don’t want to step on your toes here either, I was at work and didn’t quite read your full post. If you do have the time and are willing to I’ll let you do it. If however you don’t feel like doing it then I can step in.

Either way I think it’s a good idea

That’s a good idea, Ben. It wouldn’t be hard to do either, just someone with a bit of time to play through the games and to do a writeup. Maybe take a couple pictures to give an idea of what the text is like. I could even do it if no one else is already planning to

Weird, usually the Japanese Wario Land is more money. With the odd exception, a lot of the Japanese games are basically the same as the english ones.

That Screwdriver!

There ya go! That looks like a nice one too

Also I dont know if the foam visor would be sturdy enough to not just collapse on your face.

I don’t think the stock visor is sturdy enough either. Either a new, stiffer replacement would need to be attached, or maybe there’s a way to strengthen the regular one. Possibly something that fits “over” (around?) it, if that makes sense.

I’m hoping that, as well as the strap that hugs the lower back of the head, would be enough to support it.

I’d be interested too. I’m with Dreammary, I’d also prefer a nice looking one. I would SO rock it in town. Well, at least one time anyway.

Welcome to the site!

Yes, the SNES uses the same size gamebit driver.

This one would work for the VB without modification. You might be able to find one cheaper though.

There’s lots of great homebrew here. Some of my favorites are:

VB Racing
Blox 2
Hunter
Hyper Fighting
Mario Kart Virtual cup
Mario VB
Yeti3D
Snatcher
Zpace racers…

Yeah I could go on, just try them all out =P

Also try Bound High and Faceball. They were two of the cancelled games slated for ’96, and definitely worth a play!

Actually Red Zone would look pretty awesome on the VB. Not to mention it has one of the most fitting names for a VB game ever.

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE

That’s about right for a VGA graded item.

It looks nice, but I wouldn’t even pay a quarter what they’re asking

Good to hear you busted out your systems again. There’s lots of awesome stuff that’s happened over the years, and lots more to come.

Welcome to the site!

Hey, that magnifying glass looks pretty cool!

The backgrounds are very well done. The awesome 3D effect really does bring each picture to life. Also the shooting game controls flawlessly.

Also really cool to hear this sort of sound out of the Virtual Boy, it’s nice to hear something so different!

Wow, way to make me choke up.

I remember reading Red Metal’s posts. He had so much enthusiasm towards his Snatcher project. It was very saddening to hear the news..

This really is amazing Thunderstruck. Seriously, good on you for bringing his project to life. I’m sure this would have put the biggest smile on his face.

I like the idea of Sonic helping kids learn how to spell. The controls on that one look less than fun though =P
