I thought of making a display shelf thing for my VB cartridges… imagine a flat piece of plywood-ish wood, with strips of wood on it sort of, making it a grid (red of course and the big plate being black) I’d make the squares be big enough to hold one VB game and basically so I could have all carts there. But I need to get the wood, not sure how to make the strips, I’m not a carpenter and I’m sure the wood would break and get uneven and stuff. Plus I’d have to lean the thing against the wall or something, if it’s perfectly flat on a wall I’m sure the games would fall out.So it’s a good idea with problems and with a high probability of never seeing the light of day. A normal thing when it comes to me.
That’s a cool idea!

If you look at the second photo at the very bottom, you can definitely see バー, and it looks like the next character that is being cut off is チ. Thus, this could be part of “Virtual Boy,” in which case the book would actually contain some amount of Virtual Boy coverage, and the auction’s description isn’t just the seller’s attempt to draw VB fans to the auction.
Good eye, I didn’t even notice that.
I didn’t think the seller was pulling one on us, I just didn’t see anything about the virtual boy on the front and back covers. I would expect the book to contain stuff about the Virtual Boy, it’s just not very obvious from the choice of where they put it. Since the book is from 1997, maybe they didn’t want it so prominent since it was pretty soon after the VB’s failure in the market.
I could be wrong since I’m no Japanese expert by any means. I think Virtual Boy is usually written in katakana since the origin of the words are English. I don’t see baachurubooi, but I do see “geemubooi”(gameboy), and “ten birion” (ten billion?). I don’t see it mentioned in the smaller writing either. But I do see game & watch mentioned on the back, so my guess it’s to do with what he’s created. That shouild mean the Virtual Boy is mentioned in there, maybe it just didn’t make the cover..
I do appreciate it Bigmak, can’t wait to make this my daily driver =D
I plan to put up a video on Youtube, which I’ll post here, so anyone who’s curious can get a good look at it.
Crazy, I’m not sure whether this belonged to Gunpei or if it’s a book about his creations or both. It mentions “gameboy” on the front in katakana.
Can’t you still buy these brand new at the store? I don’t think I picked up mine THAT long ago…
Actually maybe that was like a year ago..I’d still check it out though.
Hey, that is a sharp display, and it actually looks shippable! Or is it bigger than it looks?
Maybe PM me the sort of price you’re looking for..my curiosity of piqued..
I really want one of these..
Unfortunately not something I see for sale much(or at all) in my neck of the woods =P

When you wanted to sell your Virtual Boy games you didn´t expect the Spanish Inquisition?
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!😉
Thanks for the morning laugh =P

Sellers usually aren’t impossible to reason with in my experince. Even though it says shipping to the US only, it’s very possible they’re willing to ship to Canada. Usually they just want to avoid non-english speakers when limiting the area they’re willing to ship.
Oh really? Good to know, thanks!
Damn I want a Vectrex so bad. It’ll be really hard to find one I can afford that ships to Canada no less.

Love your display (as well as the other ones here). Your laugh in the beginning of the video had my dog all sorts of confused. She wouldn’t stop tilting her head at the screen.
Thanks! Hahaha, I was mimicking an old friends laugh that we used to poke fun at.
Nice man, you’ve definitely got more than me. Right now I’m collecting for:
Nes
SNES
Gameboy (original to advance)
N64
VB of course
Neo geo CD
Neo geo pocket
Dreamcast
I have a Wii, a ps3 and a 3ds as well, although I don’t buy Wii and ps3 games, just 3ds, but not very often.

I hear you there. The problem with getting into multiple consoles is all the games that are out there. The list of games I want seems to never end =P
It is very cool to see how other people display their collections =D
BTW I think panic bomber is an amazing puzzle game as well. I think I prefer it to Tetris actually..
The problem is he’s asking for something that isn’t legal. If he had asked on any other internet forum the answers would be about the same. Its like code not to ask for ROMs for retail games.
That said the second post could have been a simple “Google it”
Have the display connectors actually been soldered on or just re-seated so that they function again?
