Just out of curiosity are you religious or is there some other reason you are so worried about this? If you are that concerned about legalities I would advise you to never access this site, or Youtube, or the internet again lol. 99% of the internet is illegal.

I feel that any kind of discussion involveing religion on the internet could lead into arguement, so I don’t really feel comfortable answering that.

I just don’t want to break the law, and am wondering weither or not burning 3do games would be.

Trust me I’m not nearly as strickt in real life as I’m coming off in this thread. In real life I’m a very fun person, I watch/play/listen to anything I want regaurdless of rating, and do use langauge. So I’m not no disiplinarian or anything.

I’ve asked this question on a few other sites, about an hour ago got a response that said it’s okay, but still have a few doubts, and am still wondering a little bit.

I didn’t mean to start anything by asking if you were religious. I just can’t understand why you are so stuck on this legal or not legal thing. It seems like you are causing yourself a great deal of stress over it. Just enjoy your classic pirated games and support the developers by buying the modern ones. They do not earn a penny if you purchase some overpriced 20 yr old used copy of one of their games. So to answer your question yes it is illegal. If it makes you feel any better I am sure you have already broken many laws already today.

No update

Just waiting for his response. He seems like a very busy person.

On the Space Pinball thread. TheForce81 was talking about how when he got the rom, he was told not to tell anyone about it. He said there was good reason the game was not available for download.

This got me thinking, and it seems to me that the only reason the game wasn’t available for download, was so people like Jojobean could just resell the game to people.

When a dump is released it severely devalues the original. Space Pinball is one of the worst cases of this because a lot of the carts that were around were not original prototypes. If someone listed a copy of Space Pinball on Ebay a month ago it would probably go for 10x what it would now.

Just wanted to let everyone know I haven’t forgot about this. It shouldn’t be too much longer now.

Unless someone wants to clean up the manual cover around the phone number we will be forced to use the planetvb.com one attached. I greatly overestimated my Photoshop skills 🙁

Put me down for two if thats allowed. I have a buddy who wants one as well.

Buy as many as you like. I have a feeling a bunch of people are going to flake on this. Maybe not intentionally but like half the people on the list haven’t logged in in over a month. Please keep the list going past 20 like I said before we need payment for all 20 before even 1 gets shipped out.

If a reputable person is found who can dump it, I would be willing to give 100 U.S. dollars towards this project.

This is a serious pledge that I can definitely commit to.

By the way… I’m thinking that Richard Hutchinson would be a reputable and trustworthy person who can get this job done, so I’m throwing him out there as a suggestion. Am I right, Richard?

That is some serious interest! and Richard would be the most reputable person I can think of so that would be amazing if he could.

Just from what I’ve heard which might be false but the owner has been offered thousands of dollars and wouldn’t even consider it. The other thing is how much of a demand is there really? Faceball is not in the same league as Dragon Hopper so I have a hard time believing a fundraiser would bring a significant enough amount to change his mind.

Does Virtualboy [Swe] still post here? I would be up for a fundraiser to get Space Pinball released.

I don’t know how anyone else feels but one of the things I would want short of Dragon Hopper or any other unreleased protos being dumped is a few minutes of some decent video footage. In the best case scenario we have a few seconds of grainy footage or some crappy magazine scan. I would pay a good amount just to see the games in action never mind actually playing them.

I always lol when people get too overly concerned about legalities. Everything on the internet is illegal. Half of Youtube is illegal, Lots of stuff on this site is illegal, and if you want an example a little closer to yours how about all those Bound High carts everyone has on here. Just buy the cart and enjoy. I do not own an Earth Bound cart for the NES but I have heard great things about it.

I kinda over worry about stuff, sometimes. The Bound High carts is a really great example, never thought about that. Thats a really good game to. Also if you want the link to the site that has EarthBound, and many others, I can send it to you via PM. A lot of people on Youtube like it, so it should be trustworthy.

Yah sure I would be interested in checking out the site.

It would be a shame for you to miss playing it just because it is technically illegal. It’s not really any more illegal than playing a rom and I’m sure everyone has played those before. The only people that should be even mildly worried about the legalities are the people making the repros not the people buying them.

Is it legal to own/buy a reproduction cart of the unreleased NES version of EarthBound? It seems like it would be since it was never released in all

Why would it be legal just because the game is unreleased? It is definitely illegal but nobody is enforcing it so who cares.

You guessed right.

Paypal is the best choice. When we can pay?

When we get 20 people and it is ready to ship. Is that what you were asking?

Incidentally, how’s payment for this going to work? I’m guessing Paypal (since there’s probably a lot of ebay users here) or something similar?

You guessed right.

You’ll probably want to clean up the back of that manual cover before you get it printed…

“Maintenance” and the phone number are pretty blurry, and you can see text bleeding through (i.e “Information” to the left of “or Service?”) that could easily be cleaned up in Photoshop.

It will be cleaned up.

I am no longer doing the Box only deal so I will start a new thread to avoid any confusion. Anybody that has already put their name down will have to do it again. The new offer is Box + Manual for $20 + shipping.

Please do not reply to this thread.
