Ever since I stopped building FlashBoys and Richard took over, I have still continued building boxes for people who wanted a complete, boxed FlashBoy kit.

Due to a lack of time and motivation people have had to wait for weeks for getting boxes built lately and I don’t think that’s a situation I want to remain in. I could just stop now, but there’s still demand for boxes which would not get satisfied and on top it would be a shame to just throw away all those box and label prints I have had made, while people would love to get their hands on them.

So I’d like to check if someone else was interested in taking over from here? I have over 100 box prints and just as many label prints, which I would be willing to pass on for little money.

I’d be more than happy to – but I didn’t think Richard was building any more? To me these are like history though, so I’d like them even if there are no more flashboys.

Krisse, can you send me a PM with how much you’re looking for?

Thanks

I’m still making FlashBoy+’s and homebrew carts, just not repros of commercial / un-released games.

Hey Krisse,

If L___E___T decides that he doesn’t want to be responsible for building FlashBoy Plus boxes and distributing them to current and future FlashBoy Plus owners in the future whenever the interest arises, I will gladly take over the task.

I can ensure that unless I die, I will carry on the torch for years on down the road if necessary and that no box will get left behind. 🙂

Send me a PM or e-mail if L___E___T changes his mind.

Thanks Luke and Ben! I’d be more than happy with any of you taking over. I’d like to split up the boxes and send one part to each of you, so we’d have one person for the American, and one for the European market. Does that sound good?

Just curious… How are you going to go about numbering the boxes if you split them up? Are you going to pre number them and send alternating halves to each person? I’m sure no one else wants their box number duplicated…but maybe it’s just me 😉

I would be very happy to receive half of the boxes. However, I am wondering how I should go about numbering them if the inventory gets split, as Dor-Si mentioned. I guess Luke and I could keep in contact with each other and let each other know what number we are on.

correct me if i’m wrong, at one point the numbering reflected the FB build number. so a box numbered 35 was the 35th FB to be constructed. now that richard no longer supplies boxes, not every FB+ has a box, so what does the numbering represent? why not just leave the numbering off of the box?

You’re correct. However, due to the custom nature of these boxes, I still believe ensuring the correct number adds collector value to those boxes that are already out there as well as those that haven’t yet been made. I don’t have a particularly low number on mine, but I’m sure those who are in the top 25 wouldn’t appreciate giving someone else the option to self-label theirs as #1 and slap it on eBay at a premium. By ensuring each one is properly counted it also gives a finite beginning and ending to this production run.

I’m not asking that numbers be included simply to appease me, but I still feel it an important factor for many collectors. With that said, perhaps the new boxes could be labeled according to their maker. For instance, a US box made by Ben could be labeled “B1” or “US1” and so on. The same for those created by Luke “L1, L2, etc?” Or perhaps the number box could just be blacked out completely?

I’m just throwing some idears out there 😉

I have pre-numbered all box prints, so there will be no doubles.

Indeed, since FlashBoys are no longer shipped with boxes, the numbers are no longer in sync with actual produced cartridges. Now those numbers count only boxed FlashBoys, i.e. collectibles, I think that’s OK. The number fields are there on the prints anyway, and just leaving them blank would not be the best way. 😉

I like that Krisse already numbered all the boxes, since he is the original maker of the boxes. That way, the numbering style remains consistent and can, indeed, reflect the order that the boxes were printed off, if Krisse kept them in such order. 😉

Now the question is: how would you split the boxes? If people want a low number and they know that either Luke or I have all the low numbers, that could create a dilemma. Perhaps send Luke all the odd numbers and send me all the evens or vice versa?

Splitting the boxes, so that both receive equally low and high numbers is the way to go. Splitting even and odd would be one way to go, but there are people who like even numbers more – like me. 😉 Maybe I’ll split randomly.

If L_E_T decides he doesn’t want to do it, I would like second refusal to distribute in the UK/Europe.
Just helping to keep your options open.

So, Ben Stevens and VBmills will receive 50 box and label prints each and will take over distribution in the USA and Europe respectively. 🙂

I have some more left, so I think I will take care about the german market while the prints last.

Thanks Chris

Once i receive the boxes i will begin selling them. If anyone has questions please dont hesitate to ask.

Cheers
Wes
