I’ve wanted a Dreamcast for 11 years (I asked for one long ago when it was in stores for Christmas but I was told that it looked lame, not that I agreed it did, thats just why I couldn’t get one for Christmas) and now, 11 years later, a Dreamcastic friend of mine who is always talking about the Dreamcast (like a Dreamcast version of my VB enthusiasm) made me want to finally get one and I now I have one coming in the mail, does anyone have any game suggestions on what to get for it?

also, said Dreamcastic friend drew me a VB yesterday… I’m guessing you fellow VB freaks might like to see it?
(unbelievably, she draws the VB better than I can and she doesn’t even own one… yet 😉 )

last silly note: she thinks once I play the Dreamcast the VB will have no chance against it being my favorite console 😛

Meh, the original Sonic Adventure didn’t do much for me, because a ton of the game is exploring, and to me that just doesn’t fit the sonic franchise. I really liked SA2 though, with the exception of the hunting/gathering missions.

Its already been said but House Of The Dead 2 and Power Stone!!

And apparently the DC 2 just might happen now.

Really, do you have new information that there is going to be a DC 2? If you google it, the only things talking about a second dreamcast are several years old.

i don´t think he has any informations about it is a running gag at talking classics one time there apear a dream cast added to a sega cd and he writen on top of it DC2 another time he get one from some girls its just a running gag but i still hope and belive sega is going to make a new dreamcast and maby shenmue 3 (i <3 Shenmue)

I’m with Nintendo, but if Sega came back with a new console, that would be really cool. As for the old Dreamcast.. I had one and tried all the big headliners but never found it to have any “killer apps” for me.

“hoping” to work on the DC2 doesn’t imply that a DC2 is in the works. Of course he hopes to work on a DC2, so do I! Everything I’ve heard about DC2 has been conjecture or speculation, there is no hard evidence it even exists. But as a DC fanboy I think it would be awesome if they did that, I just don’t see it happening.

Off-topic, kinda.
Anybody with a Dreamcast NEEDS to get a VGA box. The jump from 480i to 480p is stunning. Can always use a VGA to Component converter if needed.

As for games, this console has many greats.
Cannon Spike
MvC2
Resident Evil:Code Veronica
Tech Romancer
Zombie Revenge
Under Defeat
Garou: Mark of the Wolves

and many many more!

The Dreamcast should have been the biggest system in the world, yet it faded away and lost to it’s competitors. 🙁

My two favorite games are “Sonic Adventures” and of course “Jet Grind Radio”.

About CD-R wearing out the laser:

This is true with the first batch of backups. In those backups the data and audio portions on the disc were separated, causing the laser to go completely bonkers.
The sound you hear coming from the DC when playing these games, sounds like a floppy drive checking if there’s a floppy inserted.

Don’t play them, they will effectively ruin your DC.

All the self-booting games should be all right. I’ve never had any problems with mine (well, beside from the power supply pins needing a slight tweak, but that’s caused by something completely different).

Some of my favorite Dreamcast games are Triggerheart Exelica, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive 2, Sonic Adventures, Ayanami Ikusei Keikaku (must be able to read japanese as I don’t think there’s a translation), Omikron: The Nomad Soul and Marvel vs Capcom 2.

So many great games for dreamcast. I only actually own three of them though. Pretty much my entire dreamcast library is made up of burned cds. I haven’t had any problems with the laser throughout the years I’ve used it either. Didn’t even think about it until now.
