I know it’s a bit late to come up with ideas for the coding competition, but don’t you think that this would be a great candidate for a Virtual Boy game? It’s called cubefield.., and the 3D effect seems like it would be easy to implement. Play the game and have a see for yourself.

There was another game, too, that I thought would make good use of the 3D if ported to the Virtual Boy but I’ve forgotten it. Still.. The other game is great. πŸ˜€

It’d be good if someone took it on, but I doubt anyone will.

Heh, that reminds me of Domino Rally! πŸ˜‰ But yeah, that’s similar to a game I’ve been wanting to make one of these days… I dunno how many of you have ever played it, but Falldown for the TI calculators was awesome (here’s a flash game similar to it: http://www.2flashgames.com/f/f-1220.htm ). I could see a 3D version using Affine to look similar to Bound High, except the point would be to avoid the blocks and keep falling rather than bouncing on the blocks.

It could also be considered a simplified version of “The 3-D Battles of World Runner” for the NES. Except without the 3-D, the battles, the world, and the runner πŸ˜‰

That cubefield game would be pretty sweet if ported to VB, but it is a little late to start working on it. The 3D effect would probably have to be done with direct screen draws though, unless you wanted to hand draw all of the cube enlargements (what lots of mode 7 SNES games did.)

World Runner would also make a good VB game, even though I don’t like it very much.
