I do wonder though, has it been decided which rom goes with what edition?

Or do you pick the rom.

Kinda funny that screwattack of all places made a news story about faceball “you might as well load up windows 98 and wait for the screensaver” LOL

Wow, Nick got like nearly everything wrong. Makes you wonder how much of their other “news” is legit.

When AVGN is one of their shows, you can’t really take them seriously.

That’s a very nice selection of games you own. Once you find them all (I’m confident you will), I would definitely recommend adding Space Squash to your collection if you can. It’s definitely the kind of game that the Virtual Boy was intended for and SOOOOOO much fun!

Heheh. That’s a game that I really want to own. Unfortuantely, a CIB copy of it went for on;ly $45, and the only other copy is $100. I’m still trying to save my money for Faceball.

I’m afraid I can’t really help you, but at least you have Red Alarm. 🙂

Yes, I would like to buy a reproduction cart if there was one.

As for what ROM on what cart I’d be interested in, personally… I have no idea right now, haha. I’m torn. :p

If you want to own a physical, genuine copy of the original Faceball prototype, get that one.

If you want to own a better and more finished game, get Faceball: Remastered.

Could somebody make a video of this cool looking game? I’d really like to see it in action.

I’ll give one thousand dollars to anyone who makes a Mario platformer on the VB like Mario Land VB would have been. 😀

Ok, give $1000 to Nintendo. Want to know their new game? Virtual Boy Wario Land. 😉

To be honest, I really don’t care for Mario VB. It would have had to compete with Wario Land, which is a lot like Mario, and is even better than a few Mario games.

How would Mario Land VB compete with that masterpiece?

It is nothing ‘special’ but the only secret I found so far.

“Nothing special”? This is the first public revealing of a hidden character in a prototype game that has existed yet largely been unavailable for the last 18 years! Sounds pretty special to me.

Heh, ok ok… it is something special.

And of course, the only official version you can strafe in. 😉

Dude, DanB worked really hard on Ballface. He’s NOT DONE YET. hint hint.

Besides, Faceball in any form is extremely awesome.

Maybe you should wait to play it until he’s done?

At the risk of getting “segagamer99” overexcited, I notice you can strafe in Ballface.

You can also strafe in Faceball if you hit the the “left” or “right” on both D-Pads at the same time. It is kind of tricky though.

Oh, that’s nice. Can you strafe in other versions?

Zero Racers would be way easier to make! We could use inspiration from other F-Zero games, and there probably are other racing games that are similar. Plus, the music could be from other F-zero games as well.

Considering Faceball was only found a year or so after Bound High!, maybe the others will be found as quickly.

Anyway fantastic work on this. Obviously I haven’t played the game it is remade from, but I felt like it gave me a good idea of what to expect when it turns up.

I think I’m actually more excited to see where Ballface ends up, than for VB Faceball. I’m a fan of the MIDIMaze/Faceball series, but the VB entry sounds like a (at best) average sort of game.

Well, it is one of the long lost VB games. 🙂

I heard that you can turn off the lights in the Faceball proto. Can you do this in Ballface?

Also, despite it being unfinished, it is a lot smoother and faster than the Gameboy and SNES versions. We’ll see when we get to play it.

Give it a shot, but don´t forget to include some material – people like to see what they get before they donate… 😉

I’ll shoot some videos and take some screenshots. Is there any part of the game that’s especially gawk-worthy?

Definitely tell about what you get in the $100 or $200 editions. Talk about Faceball: Remastered. Say how it’s probably one of the smoothest versions. Talk about the 3D effects(naturally), and tell how the enemies are all different than previous versions. 🙂

pcenginefx.com has quite a few Virtual Boy fans

the users over there are very helpful when trying to find protos or donate for them 🙂

Don’t worry people, I gave that person a piece of my mind. 3 people liked my reply, so I guess they understand our point of view. 🙂

But yeah, seeing all those comments really made me mad. The hate for this underrated system is honestly just depressing to read.

Wario Land has a backup battery. Galactic Pinball saves highscores, so I assume it uses a backup battery as well.

Just out of curiosity, are you counting the bonus table located within some of the 4 main tables as the fifth table?

Here are all of the commercially released games that received 10 out of 10 from me:

3-D Tetris
Galactic Pinball
Jack Bros.
Panic Bomber
Space Squash
V-Tetris
Virtual Boy Wario Land

So these would be my top 7. Each of them mostly hit the list because of their addicting gameplay and very high replay value.[/quote]

Yes, I am counting the awesome bonus table. “Ladies and gentleman, in just a few moments, our show will begin.” 😀

I do wonder why you have rated so many games 10s. I can completely understand Galactic Pinball or Wario Land, which both have insane replay value, and timeless gameplay, but why the others? Is this merely because the system had so few games?

Great progress! I can’t wait to see what you can do next. 🙂

As far as I know, none of my video games, especially any of my VB games, have had a backup battery leak. I don’t think it should happen at all, carts are made to last.

Why do you ask, have you experienced a problem?
