Oh and I finally got to play the game more. Lots of variety, nice and simple controls, and great graphics. I’ve only beaten World 1 in Adventure mode, so I still have lots more to play!

Man, if Bound High! is this good, then imagine what G-Zero and Dragon Hopper are like…

Just got this today. Box was so nice, it went right on my bedroom shelf!

As for the game, I got to play it for 5 seconds. Seems alright. 3D is fine, but I’ll have to play it more later. 😉

Are those the codes where you have to write down what a random picture says, or make you say to check that you are a human? I hate those. Some forums merely have you do those tests, others you just sign up, and on the Pcenginefx forums, you have to answer some questions and wait two weeks. 🙁

You might as well just create another new account and see how that goes.

EDIT: KR155E is a member of Lost Levels, I believe. He can help you.

A few years ago I sold all of my Virtual Boy stuff and left the community. This post in particular was what pushed me to leave:

You didn’t need to sell your stuff…

The VB inner circle is very tight, the people who are in it already know who leaked these and why. Now anything that is held even by 1 person will be held even tighter.”

Anybody on it from this site?

If you’ll recall, this was back when the three rarest games were on the verge of having their ROMs released.

I assume the third game is Space Pinball?

The fact that ROMs of these games existed, as well as a ROM for Bound High (which is now released), but that they were being kept by a Virtual Boy “Elite” upset me.

I thought they were found or kept by different people. Huh?

The Virtual Boy community is so small already, so it made little sense to me to deprive others of a new experience. I thought that the community should be close-knit, not segmented.

I completely agree with you.

Now, though, the three rarest ROMs are available. Bound High is available. Soon, Faceball will be available. This community has come so much farther from where it was a few years ago.

And I’m sure we’ll find the other two games eventually. 😉

Perhaps I’ll have to get myself another Virtual Boy.

No, you WILL get another Virtual Boy. Enjoying a system or not has nothing to do with an online forum. Thanks for supporting the Virtual Boy community though. 🙂

I had this same idea actually. You guys beat me to it. 😉

Is it possible to call dibs? Is a free cart for people who donate the most? I’m sorry that this wasn’t a full release, but I’ll try to donate something. Good work everyone. 🙂

You should probably ask Minestorm. He has removed connectors from hundreds of carts.

Sorry if I sound a little pissy. You’re right, Eric has done a lot. I just don’t get why Bound High! had a normal cart release, if everything was going fine then. Now, this game is having worries over. I’m just anxious, I guess.

Interesting discovery.

I would like to see some more info on Zero Racers, if that is possible.

I just don’t get all this fuss. There are several examples of unreleased and released games being made into home-brews for profit, and Nintendo, Konami and sega don’t care. Boung High! was made, and yet nothing happened. Why is this a big deal? Eric won’t be able to make any profit.

You want an example of a pirated game? Super Mario Bros. 2: Lost Levels reproduction carts. Back in the day, the game was pirated from disks to carts. Now, it’s the rom to cart. Mario 2 is STILL A COMMERCIABLY AVAILABLE GAME. It is on the Wii Virtual Console. This reproduction cart is sold for profit. Nintendo has never interfered, even though it is a well known game.

Seriously, I can think of several more examples of “pirated” games that ginormous companies don’t care about.

If Dragon Hopper and G-Zero are found, will they just be a rom? No glorious cart release?

Oh well, it is for Eric to decide, but this is a long lost Virtual Boy game. It needs respect and glory…

I agree. It does need respect and glory. It’s ultimately up to Eric what he chooses to do and what he’s done for the VB community is amazing. Highest priority is to keep him safe from any type of legal action. I wonder if there is a way to purchase cib games through messages and out of the public eye. This way he does get some money for all that he’s doing in addition to allowing everyone to get a cart to play.

Actually, that may be a good idea. Bigmak forwards a PM to every member on the site. Unfortunately, this release has had news coverage. But if Bound High! had a normal release, and Super Mario 2 Reproduction carts are 100% legal, then I extremely doubt that Faceball would be interfered by anybody at all.

Ok so I read the thread…

My condolences to Eric(Bigmac) regarding this situation.

Can something be done in terms of editing the software/sprites to make a game CIB that is intellectually unique???

Where is the pressure coming from? And why would there be pressure regarding this release? Its a real shame that it has come to this…

What is the situation with donation at this time…?

Hopefully something can be done with regard to this situation… Or is it truly too late for that….?

No, everything is just fine.

It’s just some asshats who think $100 for an unreleased prototype is a load of crap, and think that, oh no, it hurts Nintendo.

I mean, people port Konami MSX and Sega SG-1000 games to ColecoVision for profit. Soon, there will be an arcade perfect port of Donkey Kong on the Super Game Module for sale as well. You think any of those companies care? You think BPS, god knows what it is now, will care?

Nothing bad is going to happen. No pressure at all. 🙂

I am a PC Engine fan, so I used to have a PC Engine GT(Japanese handheld version). It’s a lot of fun. Be warned though. The batteries maybe last 4-5 hours, and you will definitely need a rechargeable battery pack. Also, mine was very expensive. I got mine with 4 games for $250, and I resold it later. A lot of fun, but even bigger than a GameBoy.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will take a break of about a week or so. I know everyone is overexcited about all of the Faceball related stuff right now but I feel pretty exhausted and need some time to get back to normal. So don’t worry if you don’t see updates in this thread.

You deserve a break, thunderstruck. Have fun. 🙂

Eric is a good nice person. We had a few good conversations on the chat box.

I wish him luck with Faceball, and any other future endeavors. 🙂

Signs, but I’ve only gotten ending C.

Protoman85, because your reviews are awesome, I’ll let you in on a little secret.

To get muchos coins, go to the 10x coins mini-game.

Now, you may think this is always random, but on every single stage, the pattern is EXACTLY THE SAME.

I figured this out myself. I do not quite remember what the pattern is, but notice which bat is correct after each time you pick.

I love the coin game. 😉

*Signs*

Probably the first new signature in a while. Heheh.

Wario Land is one of the best platformers I’ve ever played. Not exactly long, but if you take your time playing it, it’s a ride.

I’ve beaten the game on hard mode multiple times. There are a few blocks or whatever I can’t reach. According to the level maps, I missed a big room on the Waterfall stage and one on the funhouse stage.

I love replaying this game so much. I usually just play one level a night, so it doesn’t get boring. 😀

this is all very exciting! a never before seen VB game that was intended for legit release?
you really have gone above and beyond in acquiring the prototype, but it really doesn’t sit well with me that some guy was holding on to it and then sold it for such a big amount. i mean unless that japanese guy was solely responsible for coding the entire game, it’s really not his to sell like that and is a pretty anti-gamer thing to do to hold on to it in secret, only releasing it for big bucks. Even if he was on the staff that worked on it, it wasn’t his money that financed it, it was nintendos. What would he have done with it if no one had stumped up the cash? and was he pimping it around to try and find a buyer? if no one else had ever offered the money, he would have had a worthless piece of plastic.

Leaves a sour taste in the mouth imo, anyone with a love for gaming wouldn’t do this, i expext he was a money man for nintendo and somehow got a hold of it.

Well, you have to remember. Faceball was developed by BPS, which hasn’t done anything in about 20 years.

Hmm, Mr. G seemed like a nice guy. Unlike most prototype hoarders, he gave a lot of screenshots, level descriptions and video. I do wonder where he is now.

I finally got to play this for a few minutes on the Red Dragon emulator.

Unfortunately, that meant no music, and no #D, but I still got to play the game.

Fishbone is a very nice homebrew. Virtual Ben did an awesome job with the graphics. Thunderstruck, you did very good coding, and there is a lot of variety. I like how the stage select screen is inspired by Faceball.

I didn’t expect this game to be auto-scrolling, or using only the d-pad, but it’s a nice and simple little game. Good job you guys. 🙂

Well I finally watched that quick video.

Oh god, it was only 10 seconds, and yet that guy got so many facts wrong.

Mr. G sold the cart, he didn’t buy it.

Eric is not a sucker, he is a hero.

“It’s more like a WINDOWS 97 SCREENSAVER!! HAHA, I MADE A FUNNY!”

Getting a copy of a rare prototype for $100 with box and manual is a bargain.

I’m so sick of disrespect for the Virtual Boy…
