Haha, awesome, thanks. I saw the $900 price tag for the full featured one and my heart sank. I’ll try Famitracker, thanks!

Thanks, I’ll check out that program. I really did like how authentic this sounded, I could imagine it in a Virtual Boy game, for sure.

Nice one! What software did you use to compose it?

I thought the age limit Nintendo made for the 3DS was 7 years and older, which should be the same as the Virtual Boy (etc.)

It’s just to do with the development of eyes, no child under 7 should use any 3D based system extensively, as it could lead to less than stellar eyesight.

I don’t know if that’s really a diss. Who cares what consoles some random dude from Singapore has and hasn’t owned.

I don’t have a Jaguar, so they must really suck =P

Shows how much research went into that article.

Runnerpack isn’t fixing them anymore. HP will get back to you, just gotta be patient. He is moving so I’m sure he’s been pretty busy lately.

Oh my GOD It’s the rare sequel, Virtual Boy Wario Land 2: Secret of the Goo!

J/K, it’s sun fade.

You didn’t have to look farther than the front page to see this has already been posted.

Hmm… I’ve always been under the assumption that it’s the pin connector on the cartridge that is needed from a harvested cart.

This is the reality of the situation, unfortunately. It’s a hard part to reproduce and there’s no other replacement out there.

I agree Eric, he should at least ask.

Also the one comment is interesting..

“These are very rare”

Interesting to say that about something you yourself made. Why not say something more along the lines of “I’m the only one making this repro cart”. The way he says it makes it sound like it’s a well known VB collectors item.

I like both versions. It’s best to just play them on a flash cart to try the differences, but here’s the basics:

Prototype:
Easier
Only some levels included
Japanese title screen
Controls a little less refined
Some enemies included

Remastered:
Harder
New levels created to fill in missing levels
Title screen now english
Slightly revamped controls to match modern games.
Missing enemies are now used

That’s a decent price for cart only, and also the choice to try the auction is very nice. Good find!

I agree it sucks how pricing can get ludicrous for certain items, I mean just look at Virtual Bowling and other similar ones. As stated though, it’s the classic supply vs demand effect. It’s just how it works, nothing anybody can do about it. At least it makes finding those good deals feel so rewarding, so it’s not all bad I guess =P

But yeah, I’m not proud of the price I’ve paid for a couple of my gaming items…

Awesome work, thanks Thunder! I’ll have to try this game again, now that I know what the hell they’re saying.

I voted for Virtual Bowling. It’d be cool to have an English translation and an actual physical copy, even if it’s a repro.

Welcome! HP Lovethrash should be able to help you out

With a Japanese tap you need a Japanese Super Famicom power block. A US SNES power block will only fit in the US adapter taps.

Super Famicom power bricks are pretty cheap on ebay.

Ah you know what you are right. I was forgetting that to emulate requires much much more processing power than the original. The VB has a better processor than the NES and one similar in strength to the SNES, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is good enough to emulate those consoles….

The VB processor is actually more powerful than the SNES’. The SNES CPU was effectively clocked at 3.58mhz.

But yes, I could see NES maybe being possible, but it would require a similar type of coding skill that it took to make the GB emulator. In other words, it won’t be a simple task.

Can it save your game in the gameboy games?

It’s suppose to but I’m getting hit or miss results with it.

He did release one update, but honestly I’m not sure there’s a whole lot else he can do.

While I think it would be cool to play all those systems on the VB, I’m not sure how technically possible it is. I can’t believe even the Gameboy worked. The VB only has a ~20mhz CPU. If you tried to emulate a Gameboy on any PC with a CPU about that powerful it would be a complete slideshow. I know, because I tried on a 386 quite a few years ago =P

You need a lot of CPU power to emulate another piece of hardware. There’s a reason you need a CPU in the hundreds of mhz to emulate a SNES decently. Nintendo couldn’t make the Super Nintendo emulate the Gameboy, it simply wasn’t powerful enough. That is why the Super Gameboy contained all the necessary Gameboy hardware inside the cartridge.

Like I said, I can’t believe the GB emulator for the VB is even technically possible. It must have taken some serious technical wizardry!

Yeah there ya go, and I found I didn’t even have to get it exact to 2MB, even if I got close to it I would still end up with a 2MB file.
