Wow, Nick got like nearly everything wrong. Makes you wonder how much of their other “news” is legit.

When AVGN is one of their shows, you can’t really take them seriously.

Well, they got all kinds of different shows and I like most of them. But I would assume that if you try to inform other people about certain projects and call it Hardnews you at least take the time to get the basics right. Just reading the news on the planetvb startpage would have been enough as all necessary information is there. Reading it takes like a minute or so.

I guess they just try to be funny instead of being a serious news show.

I will make a video if I find some time.

It is nothing ‘special’ but the only secret I found so far.

“Nothing special”? This is the first public revealing of a hidden character in a prototype game that has existed yet largely been unavailable for the last 18 years! Sounds pretty special to me.

Heh, ok ok… it is something special.

Well, maybe one more thing. As I said before I can change the wall type. I can change the type to something undefined resulting in a invisible wall. The collision detection will still work so that there is an invisible barrier. Not really a secret but may be a cool game element.

OK, I just went through the ROM and went through the items. I already knew where they are but didn’t played around with them. I know now how to place every available item everywhere in the maze. I checked if there is something hidden but I didn’t found anything

Many thanks for that. I just wanted to make sure that any person who knows how to make repro carts has the permission to do so if requested.

Sure, you can even sell it way over price on ebay, burn it, give it to homeless children or make a Box and put your face on it. I don’t care, it is for free.

It is nothing ‘special’ but the only secret I found so far.

Wait… so cart labels were made for the game, but reproduction carts are not allowed to be made on a per-order basis?… Or will this cart label be used in a planned limited production run in the future?

You can of course ask Richard to make you a copy. Everyone can. The game is for free. Same thing goes for GameHero.

The new enemy is a plain Faceball. You can see him in the start sequence.

Based on the other games, that might be the default look for the user controlled character in the arena mode. OK I know there isn’t an arena mode, but I wonder if that’s what it was intended for.

I never played the arena mode in any version but it is basically the player character. I will make a picture later…

At the risk of getting “segagamer99” overexcited, I notice you can strafe in Ballface.

You can also strafe in Faceball if you hit the the “left” or “right” on both D-Pads at the same time. It is kind of tricky though.

Very nice labels. Does this mean that reproduction carts can be made on a per-order basis?

Well… öhm… no!

Instead of trying to aquire theese impossible games why don’t we just pay one of our own to code them for us. Use the account that Segagamer talked about but put a limit on how much the account will go to then have a tallented programmer like DanB or M.K. or Thunderstruck or all 3 Create the game for us. Thats how I see it

I will never do a VirtualBoy because someone pays me for it. I use this as a source of distraction as it is a fun hobby. That’s the only reason I can invest so much time into it. Taking money for it would mean it is work instead of a hobby and thereby take the fun out of it. Also I think my games are far away from the quality M.K. and DanB have archived so far.

That said, feel free to sent me beer if you want to.

Heh, nearly forgot about this game. I made logo based an VirtualBens Startscreen-Logo a while ago. UncleTusker sent me his template for the BoundHigh-Label so I used that to make a Label for the game.

I attached a version with Die-Lines and one without.

I wish the roms were still up, and shame on the people insulting the guy who did us all a huge favor that so many jerks were unwilling to do

All of the ROMs are still up for me, when I log into Planet Virtual Boy.

I think you need at least 10 posts or so to see them.

Ohhh, also there is a value that allows me to change how far you can look into the level. However, the values is already set to the maximum so I can only lower it which doesn’t make allot of sense.

OK, I extended my existing test so that it now actually loads a maze which I wrote in a free spot of the ROM when I start 2-1. I’m now confident that I can have 56 different levels (as long as there is enough free space in the ROM).

There is just one thing left I have to figure out how to change. I have to change how the game behaves when loading a level after you died. This is kind of tricky and may take some time.

On the way I discovered how to manipulate the following things:

– Player start position
– player start health
– time left to finish the level
– dimension of the maze for overview map (this has to be set to the actual dimension of the maze to have the overview map centered in the middle of the screen)

2. Galactic Pinball (the greatest pinball game ever made, really fun, lots of options and bonus, and 5 tables!! Metroid mini-game is great)

Just out of curiosity, are you counting the bonus table located within some of the 4 main tables as the fifth table?

Here are all of the commercially released games that received 10 out of 10 from me:

3-D Tetris
Galactic Pinball
Jack Bros.
Panic Bomber
Space Squash
V-Tetris
Virtual Boy Wario Land

So these would be my top 7. Each of them mostly hit the list because of their addicting gameplay and very high replay value.

what are your favorite homebrews?

I still don’t get it. He wrote everything here:

Yea. I’d like to get some money back. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Most times people would run fundraisers to release the rom. And that’s cool. But, if people give me money..I’d like to give something back. Luckly I’m part of a team of people that started the process of releasing homebrew games on carts for people to enjoy.

I can’t see how asking for donations is any different from asking for donations and giving something back. Besides that: Eric is a great guy. I don’t think there are any false pretenses.

I approached him with an offer to do just that, and I’m not the only one who did. He didn’t want it.

Well, who cares. The ROM is going online for free anyway so there is no reason to complain.
