I tried putting it into my make.bat file but it doesn’t like it. It says it’s not an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

I’ll give that a try, but it looks like it would be all Greek to me. Here’s an updated Insecticide, but it’s only 4 MB.

If this is the case, then how was a game like Hyper Fighting ever made? I’m confused as to why I just can’t have a 8 MB game here.

I must have exceeded the size of one of the sections, because it didn’t come out as a power of two. I didn’t even know there were sections on this thing. How do I start a new section, then? If I can’t make a 512 KB game, how do I tell it to make a 1 MB one?

Please help. I am unable to make this game 8 MB. I got rid of the number in the padding section of the vbh file and it still wants to be an abnormal size. What am I doing wrong?

Now I’m having troubles again. It seems as though I’m past the 512KB limit. I am having troubles making the make.bat file support 1MB limit (like most commercial VB games have.) How would I make this game be 1MB and not 512KB any more?

First update of 2014.
I got rid of the banana at the beginning. I found this old toy harmonica in the pantry with the word “Oktavia” on it. I thought “that would be a cool name instead of a dorky banana.” One search for “Oktavia” led to some sort of web developer thingy, but nobody that makes software. The name Banana for software has already been taken. I googled “Banana Software” and found a company. By this point, probably all the fruit has been taken to compete with Apple. So should I try vegetables? 😉
Anyway, I added some quick fade ins and fade outs to the beginning. While it doesn’t seem like much, it did take a few attempts and about a half-hour to get it right.
Like always, the C code is included, so if you want to learn how I’m doing this, it’s OK. It could be cleaned up a lot, and it’s not the greatest. I want to experiment with adding music to the warning screen and stuff, so that will be next. Can music using the Soviet engine be played while screens fade in and out?

Thanks for offering to help.
The game.com is IMO a neat little system, but I am in the minority of people who think that way.

The first two reasons. I would pick up a lot that had a WoF2 with other carts if the price was right. I don’t really need the box. Just the cart. I don’t think very many were made. I do have the ROM for it though, which was why I asked.

Cool! That looks a lot better. Thanks for your help.

I have a question. Can I just fade in and out one level instead of everything on the screen? I have this idea for the intro and it would involve fading the screen with the bugs in while the text would have been at its brightest since the beginning.

Basically what I did is make Behemoth’s Wing Flap of Death is where he picks up the character with his wings and throw him down. So it’s like Gi-ant picking you up and throwing you down. But Rumblebee will be different. Rumblebee will sting his opponent. But I haven’t worked on that yet. I did program Behemoth’s Wing Flap of Death, though.

OK, I guess I will be able to put this on VHS after all, maybe. What I plan to do is use my X-Box 360 to play the DVD on my VHS, then press record on the VHS while the DVD is playing. The question will be, will the VCR capture the flickering lights in a way that the ActionMax can register hits with it? I plan to do more testing once I finish the video file.

1. Burn a DVD of the movie (game)

2. Insert DVD into X-Box 360

3. Play DVD on X-Box 360 while hooked up to the VCR

4. Press record on VHS player while DVD is playing on X-Box 360.

I tested this method and it appears to work OK. I got a 3-second test clip of a DVD onto a VHS tape.

I’m aiming for a Q2 2014 release on this game.

OK, this is a kind of weird question, but is there someone who can transfer a DVD disc to a VHS tape? I want to have this game be on a VHS tape. I guess I can go to the store and get some blank ones so I’ll supply the VHS tapes. It’s just that I’ve been working on the box art and I think it would be really cool if this were to be on a VHS tape as opposed to a DVD. Here is the front box art. I like the silliness of the kid not aiming the light gun directly at the target. I spent like 15 minutes converting the LIVE ACTION – STEREO SOUND letters to be crisp by tracing over them and then erasing excess stuff.

I kept the cart, by the way. I need it for the future.

Well, I went back to the store. I would have gone last weekend but there was a storm and I couldn’t go. It got down to 8 fahrenheit. Well, anyway, I told them what I was planning to do. I showed them the copy of Mario’s Tennis I brought along. They said “Go at it,” I guess they didn’t know anything. Well, I couldn’t test it. I noticed right away that the battery pack on the controller was gone. The guy tried to find it for me in the back but he was unsuccessful. So they’re trying to sell a untested, not knowing if it works or not Virtual Boy, with a vital piece missing, for $80 (and the controller is an extra $15 for some reason.) Maybe I taught them that the controller is how the unit powers on and it’s vital to the headset. Or not…

OK, Gi-Ant can now pick up his foe and throw him down. Press B when you’re near an enemy to pick him up and press B to throw him. This only works for Gi-Ant. I’m beginning to program special moves now, which means more pixel art. I tested it, it’s a lot slower on real hardware. I don’t know why.

The only place I can find a Virtual Boy now is GameStar on Commercial St. in Salem. And that’s it. That’s the bad part about living in a smaller city. But I have had success with Game Crazy Lancaster in the past, but I guess more people are keeping them and selling them on eBay for more money or something.

I’m surprised the Microvision didn’t make the list. I bet the AVGN couldn’t find a working one to review, lol. But except for the Virtual Boy and the R-Zone, I agree with all of the choices, but in a different order.

Made a new font that is a lot like the older one (I can’t find the older one). I also composed and added music for Slaying Mantis. I tested it on a real Virtual Boy and it works OK. Now since all 8 characters are in there, now comes the hard part: The actual fighting programming. I don’t know how to go about doing that! I guess using pseudo-random numbers to make the computer-controlled opponent move? Any input on doing this would be greatly appreciated. I guess I’ll buy a few Game Boy fighting games and see how they work. Anyone have Street Fighter or KI for Game Boy?
