Well, I tried my best to get a score glitch by turning my Virtual Boy off and on as fast as possible on several occasions,

Well… thanks for testing, good to know it’s not glitchy anymore. However… dude… don’t break your Virtual Boy!!!!

Dreammary recently told me that he had problems booting the game after he flashed it on his flashboy. Did anyone else experience this?

Iv flashed it 3 times with no problems.

I’ve flashed it 2 or 3 times, also with no problems.

First of all: Thanks for all the testing. I will put you guys in the credits screen.

I have not been working on this since I released the demo as I was waiting for Virtual Ben to finish the sprites. He is done with everything now.

Right now I’m working on my sound project which I plan to use for Fishbone as well. As soon as I’m done with that I will continue on this one. As usual I will post some updates about my progress (which probably no-one ever reads).

Name in a game! Woop!

I like reading your updates thunderstruck, its good to know you (and others) like to sacrifice your time to contribute to the community.

OK… so I took my Midi-Player and integrated it into Fishbone. I seems to work fine so far. There are some issues but nothing that can’t be solved quickly.

When that is done I will pick some free Midi’s to add music to all of the levels an menus.

I started converting some music and it worked fine for the first track. After that one I didn’t like the results of the conversion too much. I also discovered some Bugs in the converter which means I have to touch that code again.

However, I’m not in the mood of doing it today so I will just stop now.

Sound like your doing well with this project. Keep up the good work.

I’m doing my best but I think I need a break now. Midi files are just too annoying. I guess Fishbone will not make it in time for this years Christmas, I’m just to burned out right now.

No worries, its done when its done mate. Take a long break, it is christmas after all.

Amen to that! Besides, I’m still happy to play around with the demo version. Enjoy the holidays, Thunderstruck, and thanks for sharing your hard work with all of us.

Where’s the Walrus!???

Hehe, I got the sprites from Ben but didn’t bold them in yet.

I hope you like the Walrus.
VB ;D

OK, I spent allot of time on finding music that somehow fits into the game. Obviously the problem is that not every midi can simply be converted to sound great on the VB. I also didn’t want to use music from other games because that’s somehow uncreative.

I went through allot of free license Midis and always ran into the same problems. I either didn’t like the results of the conversion or thought the music didn’t fit into the game.

I ended up with a compromise. I picked some license free music that sounds decent on the VB and somehow fits ok to the game. It is not perfect after all but good enough.

I tested the playback of the music within the game but only on the calibration screen. There are still some issues when it comes to switching songs. I also discovered a problem regarding the sound effects which I hopefully can fix easily. I also have to figure out what’s the best volume for music and sound effects.

After that I should be done with the music.

Hey thunder,
can you send us some examples from the sounds.

There won’t be any more demos until I’m done.

OK… I fixed all of the issues in the Midi-Player and added the music to the existing levels and screens. I may switch songs later but it is ok for now. I also adjusted the volume so that the sound effects are louder then the background music.

This means I’m done with the music. The next thing to do is change the level layout of level 3 so that it looks like intended by Ben. After that I will add the new enemies for level 3. That kind of work is rather dull so I might not do it this weekend.

I changed the order of the background sprites of level 3. It is now as intended by Ben. I think it looked better before but then again I don’t really care.
