Hello everybody!

M.K. was so kind to give me access to his fighting engine that he developed for one of his unreleased games. So I made a SF2HF mod. The full version will be released soon.

Apparently this port is based on the PC Engine version.

At least you mentioned Mega Drive. Most people think SF2 was only ported to the almighty SNES.

Well SF2 was portet to almost every system.
But i would like to know what was the reason to take the PC Engine Assets and not the one from Arcade, Sega or SNES?

Amazing work.

The graphics are converted from the arcade game. The Virtual Boy and PC Engine have comparable sound hardware.

How do you guys know where the graphics and sound come from ?

Amazing work and all credit to the authors/devs. What is the word on a cart version of this? Also any plans for other games with the engine? Or even some new genres utilising the obvious skills/talent illustrated with this?

In case anyone wants to try it out on an emulator.

He released it coded not to run on an emulator..not sure if we should a changed rom without his consent…he prob did it because the music won’t play correctly…

Well you can turn the sound off.
I think it is not a good reason to block emulators.
He just can tell in the readme or on the forums that sound is not working good on emulators.
The GFX alone is worth a look but without a VB it is a problem.

the download appears to be an updated version of the emu, not an altered ROM. =)

HAHA oki..silly me 🙂 srry. Guess the sound is fixed on the emulator ?

my keyboard is not responding on that Mednafen Version.
How can i get that working?

The main reason for the emu check was to force you to test the game on real hardware and report bugs if you find any. There were no complaints, so I assume it’s working as it should. In future versions there won’t be any emu checks anymore.

Dasi is right, the graphics are from the arcade version, and only the music is from the PC Engine version.
By the way, with the tools provided by MK, it wasn’t that hard to create this mod.
So if you like this game and want to support this and MK’s other projects, I would suggest making a donation to him.

Link to MK’s site?

Hi Mr. Anon, just have one question: what Hz are the sound effects sampled at?

So i think we see Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 soon on VB 😉

In case M.K.s mysterious converting tools are released this might actually happen.

I love you.

What’s different about that version of Mednafen that makes the sound (and the game) work? I’m noticing the sound of this demo works well in it, but all other audio-related homebrew I have still seems to have audio that runs too fast.

The only thing I noticed is that if you are standing really close to your opponent he won’t be able to hit you. All of his punches go right though you. The AI is smart enough to notice this and makes a jump back after a while.

He used 4-bit audio sampled at 8000 Hz.

Threre is no website.

If someone wants to make a donation (send me a PM), I would appreciate it.
As a bonus all donators will get a thanks in the game credits and in the future they will also get beta versions of my vb games/projects long before I release them.

PM sent

I noticed I had to set up my controller a second time, so try that (except with keyboard keys of course). Alt+shift+1.
