As for the possibility of these unreleased games getting into our hands someday, I think our best bet is to keep our eyes on auctions that pop up on Yahoo! Japan Auctions and hope that some more prototype carts happen to appear there. I heard that some prototype carts appeared on there several years ago, which were poorly marked, and it is rumored that this is how Faceball ended up making it into private hands originally. Perhaps such could happen with another unreleased game someday, and just as Faceball got to see itself made into a full game thanks to the work of a fine programmer on this site, so perhaps could one of these other unfinished games. That’s what makes the Virtual Boy hobby so great. You just never know what another year may bring. 🙂

The funny thing about Star Fox for the Virtual Boy is that if some one or ones made the game, they could take absolutely everything from Nintendo’s version, so all ships, characters, enemies, bosses, etc., put it into a full game, and then sell it mass scale, without any worries whatsoever about Nintendo coming after them for copyright infringement, since we all know that Nintendo has completely disowned anything and everything connected to the Virtual Boy.

Nice! This really looks like a case where the company took absolutely everything from the one console version and simply moved it over to another console. It could very well be that the entire story and all characters and everything in the Playstation version is almost exactly what would have been in the Virtual Boy version.

Because of this, I just may have to buy myself the Playstation version and translate everything into English… sometime far down the road.

Actually, if there was one where the seller said that it just happened to be silver, then that might be yet another one, because I don’t remember the seller of the white Virtual Boy calling it a silver color. It was definitely a very white color, and it had a lot of spots on it where the paint drips were simply left there and had hardened. I think the white one actually sold rather quickly, though.

Based on the information in the poster, it seems that the Virtual Boy version’s racing screens would have looked very much like the ones in the Playstation version, but in stereoscopic red and black. I wonder how quickly and smoothly the Virtual Boy version of the game would have been able to process everything.

The results of my internet searches indicate that hardly anyone has any love for the Playstation version, as almost nothing can be found out about the game anywhere on teh internets.

Since I could actually make out what appears in these screenshots, I figured I would translate the text in them.

I found out that the Flying Henry article came from じゅげむ 雑誌 – which is translated as Jugemu Magazine. I assume that the other articles on Virtual Boy games came from this magazine as well. Jugemu was a multi-platform gaming magazine that ran from 1995 to 1999 in Japan.

Looks like I’ll have to start searching for the 1995 issues of this magazine on Yahoo Auctions Japan now! 🙂
