Hrms i wasn’t trying to be a smart ass here 🙂 I was just trying to say..i’m sure he has enough project ideas and not enough time :).

-Eric

I’m sure Danb has some great ideas of his own.

-Eric

I just sent Danb a long pm about this game.

And the short of it is…i support it FULLY and completely. With every bone in my body.

It was a bit of shock when I saw it last night. From the pictures he posted…wow..I couldn’t tell the difference.

And I admit ..I freaked out a bit when I saw it.

I really didn’t think getting faceball would be stressful..but it is.

But, looking at dan’s project. I’m amazed at what he’s been able to do.

Danb and I wanted the same goal..to bring this game to the community..and we went about it different ways.

I’m sure the shock I got at seeing his post..was similar to the shock he felt when he saw mine.

Even thou we were both working to bring the same game to the community. I really feel that our games won’t fight each other for peoples attention.

The game that I plan on releasing will be more complete and have more polish (at least for now). You track down your enemies in a maze..and kill them before they kill you. I will post more about faceball tomorrow.

BUT, danb’s game is totally open to whatever he wants to do. TOTALLY OPEN

He can take it in whatever direction he wants to. Want some ideas ? how about traps ..different enemies..puzzle solving. Friends in the mazes to give you hints towards the end of the maze. Pitfalls that take you to other mazes..warp zones…

more rpg, more survial..hell he could put a female faceball in the center of the maze that you have to find and rescue if you want (before the enemies kill you). He could add 2 player support.

With the engine he is creating..he could make ANYTHING he wants to.

When I say I support this game. I really do. I’ve told danb that if he wants the prototype rom i have ..he can have it at any time. I hoping he takes me up on my offer and uses it to help develop his game. It could give him hints on how enemies behave….he can see how the sounds work..music..whatever he can use…use it.

Danb is an amazing coder. His yeti 3-d engine and the hunter game he’s developed are pretty incredible. I truly hope he doesn’t stop development on this project..it would be a great gift to the community.

-Eric

btw..please bring back the link to what you’ve coded so far..i’d love to try out the game. I’m sure that i’m not the only one.

I’ll post more details about faceball and our plans Sunday 🙂

-Eric

Wasn’t me 🙂 but, I admit..if it was..video would prob have to be shot from my phone heh.

-Eric

Oh lord..i think i’m the fat fish. DOH!

😀

Sometimes it’s just nice to sit back and watch smart people talk.

Yea i’m pretty sure I remember him saying that…I’ll try to find the posting where he talks about it.

-Eric

Oki..we are all talking about different things..I gotta go..but I feel like i must straiten this up a bit.

Yes there was a mario game planned..it was never finished but it was demoed at WECS 1995. You can see some video of it here:

http://www.planetvb.com/modules/games/?u020m

It had a side scrolling level..with 2 level backgrounds (like wario land). Also, it seems to have dungeon aspects like zelda.

The rom has never been found or released..the game was never close to being completed. There was a mini level of mario brothers installed in the game..later on that level was expanded and given it’s own game..mario clash.

Now..I think Krisse and Dogp was planning on coding a mario game..but it never got off the ground.

There was another homebrew mario level created by Jorgeche…it was created to show how to use his new sprite/scrolling engine (vbJAEngine (?)).

His mario level is here:

http://www.planetvb.com/modules/games/?h042g

Mario is a bit slow..but it’s a pretty cool level idea. Pretty fun and I wish it was longer. Also, I think it it was in homage to the original mario vb level (that later became mario clash)

Jorgeche’s sprite/scrolling engine is here:

-Eric..hopefully didn’t confuse you more

Come on guys 🙂 those of us that can’t code…can’t draw…we can still demo stuff..and break it when needed. It’s good karma.

He wasn’t really programming a mario game..he was working on a coding engine to help people code. The engines goal was to create a lot of the sprite and scrolling aspects of the code..and let the programmer work on other aspects (memory ??). It was his school project. I think the mario level was created to demonstrate his engine (the vbjaengine)

Fresh meat! Fresh meat!

🙂 jk We need new blood 🙂

HAHA you all saw what happened there right ?

Thunderstruck: Tag your it!

Krisse: NO, no, no..i called no take backsies!

Thunderstruck: No you didn’t!

Thunderstruck: ….

Thunderstruck: ….

Thunderstuck: Hey!…where you go??>?

Nice to see another coder trying to learn. Wish I could help you out, but all I can give you is my support 🙂

Good luck sir

-Eric

Thanx for all the support everyone 🙂 I’ve been working crushing hours at work and haven’t had time to post like I should. If someone wants to start a fund raiser..I won’t stop them. But, I’ve always felt that you should get something back. That’s why we came up with the special release cart..it will be fairly expensive…but it’s our way of saying thank you to such a great community. I’m also sorry you have to wait a few months for us to get everything together 🙂

Now..what I really wanted to post about.

It wouldn’t be fair unless I mention another person that helped make this all possible and made another sacrifice. Ben Stevens.

Not only did he buy my virtual boy collection..on very short notice. But, he let me keep my games..and he concentrated on all of the merchandise I’ve collected over the years. He wrote a much bigger check then that merchandise was worth. He might not have known what my plans were for faceball, but he overpaid on purpose to make sure faceball was acquired. He wouldn’t come forward himself and say it..but this thing I’m doing wouldn’t be possible without his selfless love (ahh lets face facts.. addiction) to the virtual boy.

I don’t think I would have had the stones to write a check like that for a game. It’s much easier to give up a collection that you spent years collecting…then to do that.

Now come on Ben, if your reading this..take some time and take some awesome pics of your amazing virtual boy collection :). I’m looking forward to seeing them :). If your worried i’d be hurt by seeing everything..DONT..I know it’s all in good hands.

-Eric

Hrms.. well. I said I was going to release the rom..so yes..it will be released.

I don’t understand why getting donations to release it is ‘not greedy’, and selling the carts is ‘greedy’. I guess I wanted people who donated to get it released to actually have a piece of the game, and the people who donate more to have a special edition of the game.

I mean jeez..i don’t know what else to do. If someone wants to write me a check for 5 figues..I guess i can release the rom and never make the game.
