Well, at least a section for each game that can be mapped as far as locations of data. If you put it all into one thread..it would be over-whelming I would think.
Why wouldn’t more repro’s be made ? I love the idea of increasing the vboy’s library. What about the English version of gundam ? or if space squash get’s fully translated..that’s a wonderful game. What about all the home-brews ? blox..blox 2. Thunderstruck’s got a few also. If vb racing ever gets to be a full game..i’d luv to have that one. Maybe virtual-chris would like a virtual-chris collection 🙂 I’m sending out free copys of the faceball proto..and what about faceball: remastered ?
I know there’s a lot more demos then finished games in the home-brew scene..but maybe more will get finished if the coders can get a physical copy of the box to hang on the wall 🙂 I can picture the day when the virtual boy has double the current library. Let’s keep this going.
Yea..only I can mess up a dump :D. I have no clue how many times the code was repeated originally. I think I had a 32 or 64 meg file 😛
Was freakin out a bit..the file ‘played’..but wouldn’t fit on a flashboy. We were going to have to design special boards to even be able to play it on hardware.
There is also the connectors you need to make or find..or adjust.
Right now I can get donor carts at about 5 dollars per. All baseball carts. I’ve got a good source with plenty of carts. So we should be fine for a bit. But, once i run out…repro costs will get higher 😛
Before this goes any further…I will NOT be releasing this game in cart for sale in any way.
I thought it would be nice for people who donate to help cover the cost of the release to get a piece of the game..a physical piece. But, I’ve had many emails/pms explaining how illegal it would be for me to gain anything from a physical release. I have been told that if i attempt a cart release of the prototype rom, emails and phone calls will be made and at that point..things get messy.
So, now what ?
I will still release the rom for free..just gimme a week or two.
I have 50 carts with the rom on them..I will devise a system to give these carts out for free.
I will accept donations to help cover the cost of the prototype release..but in no way/shape or form will it mean you will be getting a physical copy of the game.

there are some pretty outlandish prices being asked for games that a couple of people have a monopoly on the code for. is bound high code available open source? cos if not, i think it’s even worse to be hounding people for selling their copy, which they probably bought from here.
i wont ever sell my copy, but i think its a bit pathetic to be doing witch hunts on someone selling theirs.
Hrms. Yes the rom is here for people to get for free. When you see bound high being sold for such a ‘tasty price’..do you know know how much it actually costs to make the cart/box ? I’ll be totally clear..i make under 2.50 per cart sold (now that’s ‘profit’ in terms of after cost of donate cart/shipping). And, that’s after putting over 1k in ahead of time to get donate carts. Do you have any idea how many homebrews/repros we have to sell for me just to get EVEN ??
Yes, if he bought the cart..he can do what he wants with it. But, at the same time..people are making sacrifices to get these carts out there so people can enjoy them. It’s hard to see your hard work and time go to make someone else a great deal of money 😛
Now I see the ‘zeal’ of going after people selling this stuff. If people resell it ..it happens. Poor the person that buys it at that price. He could have done some searching and found it cheaper. We’ve put the information out there..if they don’t take the time to find it..oh well. Maybe they learned a lesson. It’s a lesson I’ve learned more then once 🙂
At this point..i’m not that mad at people selling it on ebay. We can only do so much to inform people. But..that being said..i’m not speaking for mindstorm or anyone else. That’s just one man’s opinion. Heh and it will prob change by tomorrow 🙂
There was never a 2nd game 2 weeks ago. Thunderstruck wasn’t told ‘hey hack this and make a 2nd game’.
He was done with the homebrew game ‘fishbones’. He’s a great guy :). I wanted to do something for him..so I sent him faceball. He said he never tried to hack a rom..and it seemed interesting for him. So..he got some tools and started messing around.
I was thinking well hey..he might be able to fix some of the typos in the game (btw..not yet)..but no. He had to get all ‘smart’ n stuff. Change the walls..find out that he can change enemies and everything. Life sure is tough when you have smart friends :).
So, it wouldn’t be right for me to tell him..don’t tell anyone anything for 2 months.
The end result is that we’ll have two different roms. Now, we have to figure out what to do with them.
A lot of the programmers do this on the side. If they take money to make a game..they lose control over it. It might work for some programmers..but..I’m not sure.
Oki…just woke up from a nap..bad day at work. So , chances are i’m not going to talk in a strait line and ..blah forgot what i was saying..but you know what i mean..maybe.
Guy’s right. He approached me about a fund raiser. Also, after I said I got the protoptype, a few other people..krisse comes to mind also..but be others..my mind is foggy atm.

If at the end of the day..if I didn’t do any work..I don’t want a check or free money..there are plenty of other people in the community that could use it :P. I’m better off then most. I’m not rich, but I live in a nice house (3 bedroom 2 bath ranch 🙂 )…my wife and I both have jobs..we don’t have kids. Yes, we normally don’t take a nice vacation every year (when we do we normally stay in a relatives guest bedroom heh).
When the hat’s passed around..i’m the dude going for his wallet. That hasn’t changed.
My wife really isn’t going to make me sleep on the couch :)..I just joke around and laugh alot…..she might look at me like I was a little stupid..but if I got money every time that happened..I could have bought faceball with my wallet money.
I just guess..i wanted to do something for people who gave money..if i didn’t. It would be REALLY weird…not weird..like uncomfortable. I mean REALLY uncomfortable.

I’m not sure what Guy was thinking might be going on behind the scenes. really a bit confused about this. I’m not doing drugs or anythng..i’m naturally a happy guy 🙂
