I’m not too sure. I’d say check on the Discord https://www.virtual-boy.com/discord as there’s a dedicated repairs channel on there.

Sounds like the usual ribbon cable problem where the glue to that eye has come unstuck.

Someone here made and sold replacement clips, but I can’t seem to find details from a look through the forums.

There’s STL files here though:

VB Stand Medallion (Custom)

Edit: just realised that’s not the part you meant, but there’s a clip stl file here:

VectorRacing perhaps?

Though I don’t see how it relates to VB other than visual similarities.

Great news. These will be very useful to have.

Don’t think there are any games missed, but there might be some patches missing from the game pages (for instance Insmouth doesn’t have its recent translation available in the game section).

You can get the Mario’s Tennis multiplayer patch here:

Sounds good, so backed!

So glad to see this Dan. You can add me to the prospective buyer’s list too (2 sets).

Another great title often over-looked is Ninja Gaiden Shadow. Although despite the name it isn’t quite a Ninja Gaiden game, it appears to have been renamed that for the NTSC region from Shadow Warriors.

Actually Ninja Gaiden Shadow is the original (western) name and it was renamed Shadow Warriors for the European release. The NG arcade game, most of its ports and the NES title were also originally renamed Shadow Warriors.

You’re correct to say it isn’t quite a Ninja Gaiden game however, as it was originally going to be a Game Boy Shadow of the Ninja title. Play Shadow of the Ninja (NES, re-released in recent years on Wii/Wii U/3DS) and you’ll notice the similarities.

Apparently you can get more than five players on Faceball if you use the GBA link cables.
There’s a thread here:

but the images no longer show up.

These look so cool; I hope I’ve made it into the finalfornow batch. It’s amazing to think the red and black wonder finally has a link cable. I imagine two-player Mario’s Tennis and Hyper Fighting are great fun and it’ll be interesting to see what future projects will do.

Amazing work. Mario’s Tennis was always a good game for showing off what the VB could do, so adding (re-enabling) multiplayer makes it even better.

Good to see this happening, I’ll be interested in picking one up from the next batch 🙂

I’m not sure what the going rate is these days, but (having just looked it up) I see I paid €100 for mine (inc. shipping).

It’s up now:

Hey excellent stuff. I’ve seen/enjoyed some of your videos before but never realised you’d covered the VB.

If you pick up a flashboy in the future, make sure you give Bound High! a go.

The system won’t show anything onscreen without a game inserted. Can you hear a faint humming though?

I got mine new from Telegames back in the 90’s. These days your best bet is probably eBay as no website seems to have them.

I just wish the eBay auction expressed more of what the game actually is. It’s so vague that and the listing looks like it was a retail game that no one knows about, and that is the only part that bugs me. He even filled in the MPN and UPC.

To be fair those have been grabbed off the back of the box. The seller’s also put a release date of “2013”, which whilst incorrect should clue people in that this isn’t something from back in the day.

This is something that comes up a lot whenever something like this or a Bound High repro turns up on eBay and I think it could be avoided by not making the boxes look like they’re from the mid-90’s.
Even if someone really wants to use that hideous NA boxart template, just stick the correct date on (2012, 2015 or whatever) rather than 1995.

Fascinating article. Learned a lot of new information.
I’ve always wished the VB had a Battlezone-type game, so it was interesting to read about the Private Eye tank demo they created.
