Oh, that’s nice. Can you strafe in other versions?

Nope.

The new enemy is a plain Faceball. You can see him in the start sequence.

Based on the other games, that might be the default look for the user controlled character in the arena mode. OK I know there isn’t an arena mode, but I wonder if that’s what it was intended for.

At the risk of getting “segagamer99” overexcited, I notice you can strafe in Ballface.
Anyway fantastic work on this. Obviously I haven’t played the game it is remade from, but I felt like it gave me a good idea of what to expect when it turns up.

I think I’m actually more excited to see where Ballface ends up, than for VB Faceball. I’m a fan of the MIDIMaze/Faceball series, but the VB entry sounds like a (at best) average sort of game.

Hope everything goes OK. Sending positive thoughts.

The battery is a CR1616, spot-welded to the tabs.

I put a new one in my Wario Land a few years back. I de-soldered the tabs (with battery attached), then used a blade to get the old battery free. Then I soldered the tabs back in place.

Next I slotted the new battery between the tabs and closed everything back up – I didn’t bother using anything else to secure the battery as it seemed to stay put just fine. And It still works, so yay me.

Wow thanks for this. Just given it a quick go but I suspect I’ll be playing it a lot today.

Yeah, you probably should have kept that under your hat for a bit longer Mr Hedge. If he’s decided to go away on holiday for a bit you could get a lot of people pestering you now.

Well whenever it does turn up, I look forward to playing it.

I’d definitely chip in for some unreleased VB-goodness. Would love to play Faceball. I’m not convinced there’s anything else available to be dumped but I’d be happy to be proved wrong.

If something did turn up, another site worth posting to would be ASSEMblergames. They actually have a fundraiser up at the moment for the GBC port of Resident Evil.

Having changed my Wario Land battery a year or so ago I can confirm that the battery you need is indeed a CR1616. I didn’t have any trouble reusing the same tabs – just applied some heat and wiggled the things loose. The battery is welded to the contacts so I was worried that might cause some trouble but it was OK. I then re-soldered the contacts in place and put in the new battery.
With the new battery I just slipped it between the contacts as they seemed to hold it in place without any other aid.

Whatever this game turns out to be I think that ideally it should make good use of the 3D effect. So ideally I’d like to see a FPS, rail shooter or simulation. Of course the 3D could be used in other game types too – Wario Land is a good example, but I’m not sure puzzle games or fighters will gain anything from VB-ification.

I’d definitely be interested in a link cable. I’ll put my name down for two.

I downloaded the glitched versions but have been too busy to give them a proper try. Which is fortunate actually, as now my proper go will be with a fully working version. Looking forward to it.

Many thanks to all involved.

Always good to see new coders. Looks an interesting game.

Interesting stuff.

I never thought Virtual League Baseball would manage to excite me.

Yeah my Wario battery died last year.

Mr Raider, you are fantastic.

Excellent videos.

Je comprends le francais mais seulement un petit morceau. Tres bon monsieur Frost.

You would think an official publication would fact check this sort of thing but I’m not too surprised errors crept in. I was however surprised to see them claim the Game Boy’s battery life was also only around seven hours.

Also it’d be good to one day read a VB article that doesn’t mention headaches.

I’ve not tried everything yet, so will delay my scoring for the moment. A good selection though.

If you’re still taking suggestions, how about Battlezone?

I have no idea how hard (or not) that might be though.
