Im not sure if mine is a display error, or a mark on the right lense. please see my post regarding my problem. But either way, I would like to get mine repaired. I’ve found a guy in GB who can do it, but anyone in the US would help me out as I can’t open this thing so shipping costs would be great if I could lower them.

I am glad it worked for you, but if you intend to play it often you should get the screens soldered because VB doesn’t like constant play. 🙁

Yeah, I found a guy who will do the soldering on these forums. But I can’t for the life of me get the vb open, so shipping all the way to Great Britain and back will make the whole process really expensive. So I’m saving up for that repair. Unless hopefully I can find someone in the US who can do that for me. We’ll see.

Ok, cleaning the lens seems to have helped. I don’t see the line as badly. Though I don’t know if it was the cleaning or the focus adjustments I did. The right lense is the trouble maker. After cleaning and focusing a few times in a row, I seem to have fixed the issue. I’m hoping it was a dirty lense and not the focusing that fixed it. I’ll keep you posted. I’ll leave it cool off and play it again later and see what happens.

when i hold a really bright light up to the lense i can see imperfections in the plastic. i don’t see dirt, dust, or anything like that. i do not know if there is a way to fix it. you problem could be dirt or dust, so try carefully cleaning the outside. i would recommend a 100% cotton t-shirt. do not use anything like paper towels or tissue as those are made with wood fiber. you can also clean dirt on the inside but you would need to take the vb apart.

Only thing is… it’s a perfectly straight horizontal line. I mean, you could be right. It could make sense it’s on the lense. Next time I boot up the VB I’ll see if the line is only in one eye. But like I said, it’s perfectly horizontal, and only visible in certain games. But it does “move” when my head moves. I donno. I don’t have the ability to open the VB. I know I was going to have to send it in for “repair” eventually, I just thought I’d have more time. I really hope this isn’t the ribbon going bad.

i have two black lines in my right eye that i can notice on backgrounds with lots of red. i see it in wario ware, during the intro of panic bomber, and others. the lines move as i move my head/eyes. if i back away they get smaller, if i move closer they get larger. i’ve come to the determination that they are on the red plastic lenses.

does this describe what you are experiencing?

try some compressed air in the slot and around the contacts of the carts. once its cleaned keep a cart in the slot at all times, its the only way to really keep dust out.

Yes that’s EXACTLY what I’m describing. The look smaller when I move my head back and move with my head. Right in the freakin center :(. What should I do?

Thanks for the tip on how to clean the games…

Another day, another picture. Now fully functional and set up:

I got a Genesis Model 1 adapter today and it works like a charm :). Everything about this is in tip top shape and I’m so thrilled with it. The picture looks great as well.

Excellent find DaytonaUSA! I wish more Ebay sellers would actually reveal the serial numbers in their Virtual Boy system auctions. It’s actually a strong selling point for us Virtual Boy enthusiasts.

Yeah, I didn’t know until I opened the box! hahaha

So happy with it!

Well I have something special for all of you. My Japanese VB just came in. And it’s the lowest Japanese serial number out there! 😀

By their reasoning, I suppose the Neo Geo PC is one of the worst gaming handhelds of all time…

I like paint jobs, when they are done with something like car paint and look professional. I like them even more when the person gets custom vinyl done to replace the painted over logo. I think someone could paint a VB and make it look great. Though at least in my own opinion, I don’t see the VB as anything but red. Red suits it. It’s all you see when you play! haha

Oh dear lord! I don’t know what’s worse. The fact he painted it, the fact he painted it poorly, or the fact 20 people bid on it O_O.

And thanks, haha. I love mint condition consoles, and I’ve always gravitated towards the underdog consoles. My favorite consoles are the Dreamcast, Saturn, VB, Gamecube, N64, and Master System.

DaytonaUSA, I got mine from MineStorm; message him I am sure he can sell you one.

Awesome. Thanks man!

Anyone who could make me a cart, please PM me. Interested in this box as well… if I can get the cart.

This sounds like an awesome idea. No instant combat like in Zelda, but kinda like Pokemon where you get sucked into a fight as you walk. The first person perspective sounds like the perfect fit for the VB. Especially if you have a menu system for things like item use or something during the fight.

If you ever want help with graphics, I’m a graphic designer. And while I’ve never worked on a game before, I know I could easily create sprites. I just like the idea of the game so much, I really would like to help if I can.

Keep up the good work. I hope I can try a demo before too long. 🙂

Well, I got a donor VB in the mail. It’s just a headset, and I’ll be using it for parts, but I figured I’d list it here. It’s a US retail model

Wow you guys put me to shame. Here I thought I had a decent start, hahaha. Still, can’t wait to show you what I got when it comes in. It’s in beautiful shape.

Btw bigmak, you had a picture of a Japanese VB box, but it was all in black and white instead of a full color shot. What’s with that? Is that an early run or a store display box, or what? Very nice collection though both of you!

I wasn’t waiting to the last second or anything actually on that auction. My timer was showing 5 minutes left and was counting down. When I hit refresh, the auction was over. Still don’t know what that was about. I haven’t had timer issues before and since.

But yeah, I’m happy I got this Japanese console for such a great price. It was a buy it now auction.. i didn’t screw anyone by sniping lol. I prefer not doing auctions anyway as I hardly ever win. But yeah, like you I’m almost glad I missed out on the blockbuster VB. I think I’ll enjoy this import boxed VB a lot more. So.. it works out the way it should sometimes :).

Or you know.. sell it to THIS GUY lol who’s willing to pay you for it right now…..please.

I am looking for a flashboy+ cart (with or without box). I have seen these going for $150 on ebay. I just played mine today, works great. The only issue is the sticker on the cart isnt 100%. It looks like when I bought it when VB was new, it was a rental cart and it had some kind of security sticker on it.

So basically, I want to trade my Jack bros cart for your flashboy+

Either way, its a long shot, but I am just throwing it out there!

If you’re willing to sell the Jack Bros cart, so you can use the money towards buying a Flash Boy, let me know as I’m interested. Also, pics of the cart might be a good idea since it’s not in mint condition.
