Well, I just bought a boxed Japanese VB in mint condition instead! Got it for only 118 bucks. Couldn’t be happier right now :). I’ll be sure to add the serial number to the list once I receive it. 🙂

Is that game normally that much money? Not really worth it…then again none of the rare expensive VB games are worth it, haha.

Hey, count me on board for this. This is what I assumed the Flash Boy would be, but wasn’t. Still great to have, but this would be infinitely better! One SD card with everything in one place.. sounds like heaven.

How much longer till you think the board will be fully functional? Are you close?

Best of luck. Please let us know when you’ll have pre orders up as you can count me on the list, no matter the price.

Hello,

I am not sure if this has been asked before…and I didn´t find anything specific on it yet.

Has anyone had troubles aligning the two displays again?
How is that done? I haven´t found a procedure on my search.

Just curios about that, since there´s only one possibly way to re-install the screens (e.g. after a repair). So I am not sure if that ever happens…

Anyone?

Have you tried letting the system auto align them for you?

To quote another site:

“put any game in the Virtual Boy, turn your VB on, and when the game is on the title screen press: LEFT(on the right side of the control pad), B, DOWN(on the right side of the control pad), A, UP(on the right side of the control pad). If you did this correct any healthy(read: well functioning) Virtual Boy will show a screen with one horizontal line and two separate vertical lines crossing eachother.”

I’ve heard the tape only method works just as well as soldering it. Or am I wrong with that assessment? I know for sure though the oven method will NOT last.

Well you can take me off the list! Guess what I got last night!!! 😀 😀 😀

It’s a month late, but I still love it :P. I haven’t loaded anything to it yet. To be honest, I don’t know how I’m going to. I was going to use windows that’s on my mac to boot this, but it came with a mini cd, and I don’t believe macs take that. I’m sure I’ll figure it out.. I’m just happy it’s here :D.

Oh good to hear about a new batch. Anyone have a link to be added to a list, or has one not been made yet?

Thanks guys.

Sorry to hear about other people’s bad luck. It just sucks, and I now will probably never have the opportunity to get a Flashboy ever again, killing my chances of playing the communities homebrew.

That’s the part that hurts me the most. Losing the money sucks, but I’d buy it again if I knew I’d actually get one this time 😕

Yea, I’ve seen that pic everywhere with the white background. It looks like it was taken with a digital camera with a really bad flash, and just clipped in Photoshop to take out the background.

I hadn’t seen the Wiki photo yet. Yea, I agree, nice angle and lighting, but once again.. no one knows how to set this thing up properly. I will admit, having the stand that way sometimes makes the VB look cool as the ugly stubs of the stand aren’t facing the camera, however, it’s not right, and playing that way makes little to no sense if you’re playing it on a table the way it’s meant to be played.

Like I said before, I guess it’s simply the fact it was out for such a short time, most people don’t remember how it’s supposed to be set up. That, and most people don’t have the booklet that came with it detailing how to set the thing up. Still, it is odd to see Nintendo’s own publicity photos having it the wrong way. I still don’t get that at all…

Virtual Lab.. never seen it before, and I’ll never own it if it’s this much! lol

Yay for Flashboy 🙂

Ok, look at this auction. The Demo stations now are backwards too????

What gives? Nintendo puts specifically in the booklet how it’s meant to be played, and then they do it wrong in the store display??? >:( >:( >:( >:(

US version I just got with a low serial number

Sad thing is, you need to buy a controller just to see if this possibly-broken system is even working.

best of luck 🙂

pretty low serial number, must’ve been one of the very first retail units.

I never noticed that.

Just curious, but on the N64 DD fan site, they have a list of serial numbers for everyone’s unit, and everyone they have found online. Could we do something like that here? (I’m assuming one hasn’t been made).

So by judging from this number, this was one of the first 70,000 out of 800,000?

Great job tracking down a Flash Boy!

I don’t have one and have to force myself to open up my sealed games. 🙁

Even if I did, I don’t think the loader runs on macs, anyways.

It doesn’t, but that’s why I have boot camp 😉

Thanks a lot guys. Yea, I figure there isn’t much activity here.. but I hope it’s enough for homebrew to keep chugging along. I’m very excited by what I’m seeing here.

Btw, I’m a graphic designer, and if any homebrew devs need someone to do some graphics I’d love to help out.

Here are some pics of my brand new console. No, that’s not me holding it.. i’d never hold it like that >_>. But it’s so nice, there’s not even any scratches on the red “eyes” 😀

Here you go!:

😎 😀
