hey, I’m older than VirtualBoyX and never tried soldering either 😛

(sorry for the double posting, I couldn’t edit the other one anymore)

I got it working! however its a bit laggy… is it my computer or how Mednafen responds to VB emulation?

I did that but I didn’t see a thing on the quick help guide that sounded like it would help me set the controls…

I guess I don’t play any homebrew games… for now 😛

wow! I thought I was the youngest member on here! (I was 14 when I joined the site, but am 15 now)

anyways, like a few people said, there are people who you can send the cartridge to that would fix the battery for you (you’d have to ask though since most of them are only fixing the batteries in Gameboy cartridges currently) if you have no experience in soldering and such (it probably costs less than getting a different Teleroboxer cart too)

also, the batteries at your local Dollar Tree probably don’t have the tabs needed for easy repair

I did that, I first saw “select movie” said on the emulator… I didn’t think that was right so I did the same key combination again and my computer screen went completely black with a flickering underscore… (I’d hate to see what disasters I’d cause trying to DEVELOP a Virtual Boy game! 😛 )

I wish it were true! Wario is my favorite game character and I was sad when I learned he isn’t in Mario’s Tennis 🙁

I get them at eBay because I haven’t had luck finding them other places (however I’ve asked a few local videogame stores, however only one of them had one VB game and it was one I already had; Mario’s Tennis!) but if I find some good priced ones in good condition outside of the internet or on a different site I might buy VB games from there

so apparently the thing said about real GBA carts having “Nintendo” printed on the circuit board but fake games lack it is also true for GBC games too!

also, I’m glad I helped you find out its a pirate cart (thankfully Links Awakening DX isn’t that rare so you could get a real one eventually easily)

all this talk of a commuinty created game reminds me of my strange idea of a game BASED off of this commuinty! I had when I was a newbie here at PVB, remember THAT topic?:

“wouldn’t it be cool if there was a game for the Virtual Boy with a PVB-theme to it?
like, you could play as KR155E or DocAetzn (cause they are the two who started PVB) and you could do things like use your admin/VB guru magic powers to defeat the evil bosses like those who hate the VB and want to destroy it to save all our misunderstood red friends from being pulverized, of course, there can be NPC’s, like DogP for example could be seen fixing someones VB in the story… anywho PVB members VB’s could be in the game too, maybe they could even join in with KR155E (or DocAetzn, depending on who your playing as) and have their own special VB powers to help defeat the evil haters and save VB-kind, maybe at the end each level (after boss) you get to see Gunpei Yokoi and he can congratulate you (and the other members of the storyline) for saving the VB’s or something like that 😀 ”

pretty much the same as a US unit, but has different stickers (it still retains the US battery offer sticker but its covered somewhat) and has a black/white manual in french, this is kinda like how Mexican Virtual Boy games come with a paper of instructions in Spanish

…sadly it is suffering from the dreaded screen problems which the guy explains as “erratic pixels” (I just thought I’d post it anyways since I’ve never seen a Canadian “version” of the Virtual Boy)

20 (or more) ratings? ok *counts how many games I have that I could play* …I only have 10 games and I’d rather play VB games (this goes for homebrew games too) on the actual hardware and I don’t have a Flashboy 😛

I can’t be 100% sure, but I know that all Link’s Awakening DX carts I’ve seen do not have “Includes New Secret Dungeon!” on the cart (its only on the box they came with) and the “DX” version carts always seem to be black colored, however Wario Land II had both a production run of black and grey carts but the “DX” in Links Awakening DX means its been GBC enhanced from the original therefor it should have a black cart (as most “can play on a original gameboy but has GBC enhancements” carts do) while the normal Links Awakening should have a grey cart

most counterfeit carts say “GAME” on the cart instead of “Nintendo Game Boy” but this one says “Nintendo Game Boy” which might mean (maybe) Nintendo had some sort of cart color mess-up on an early batch of Links Awakening DX, however some counterfeit carts have gotten harder to identify as fakes and have used “Nintendo Game Boy” instead of the reoccurring “GAME”

I’m not sure how you can identify a fake Gameboy (or color) game from the inside but I do know that real Gameboy Advance games have “Nintendo” and a year stamped on the board while counterfeits usually don’t have that

another thing counterfeit games can do is not save due to the cheap batteries they put in that last not as long as the non-counterfeits do (but some non-counterfeits get dead batteries and it causes saving failure, mostly because Gameboy/Gameboy Color games are now older meaning they have older batteries, and Gold, Silver or Crystal Pokemon games are the most commonly known to have dead batteries the most because they used the clock feature that used that battery a lot) but anyways you say the cart works perfectly so I’m guessing there isn’t any save failures

and now as for the label, Links Awakening DX does seem to commonly have either the old white ESRB logo or the black ESRB logo so either one could be correct, I believe this is due to different production runs… however a strange thing on the label is that the “Nintendo” logo is in a different place than the Links Awakening DX carts I have seen

also, as for the “Nintendo seal of quality” its usually not on Links Awakening DX unless if it has the newer black ESRB logo (from what I’m seeing on eBay in comparison to your cart)

no offense akumie, but have you tried programming anything before?

I can’t/haven’t tried programming myself yet but it seems like something challenging to do (at least from my perspective) and especially for those who don’t have too much free time that are busy with other stuff… I’m not saying nobody ever should attempt to finish making their games though!

like e5frog said, if they show what they are working on to the other people on here to get some feedback, it could help them finish and/or improve their game
