i have this same problem, as my alignment is fine i relate this issue to the red lenses. just like you i see the right and left edges a bit fuzzy, and when i move my head everything becomes clear. i’ve been toying with the idea of custom replacement lenses that are flat, perhaps made out of glass.

i played wario land for a while. then i flashed a mario clash hack and played that for months. i put my vb away and only recently pulled it out. mario clash was still on my FB+. i played it for a few days and then flashed over wario land. my wario land save from a year ago was still there. so i do not think the save data area is erased, it is only overwritten if the rom you flashed can save.
i remember they listed it on ebay and it sold for a lot. i can’t recall the exact amount. they listed it by stating that it was on the world famous pawn stars tv show.
i agree, you should pick up bound high! and wario land. if you like galactic pinball then you may also enjoy space pinball. the different tables are really fun. you should also check out faceball remastered as soon as it gets a cart release.
i am not sure what you are asking. you used the word “while” so i am confused by what you are asking. are you asking when this patch was released or why it was made?
Description: This patch changes the controller layout to the mario standard by swapping A and B (A jump, B throw) and also puts “run” on both triggers.
in the game B is jump and A is throw. traditional NES mario style, A was jump and B was speed/weapon/etc. so this was switched so that the virtual boy game controls would be more like those found in other mario titles, making them much more familiar.
the run button was originally only assigned to the left trigger. the right trigger doubled as a jump button. it feels much more natural to have the run button on the same side as the jump and throw buttons. i assume this is why it was added to the right trigger as well.
in case you are asking when it was made, the patch release is dated 2010/02/09.
what you need is a flashboy+. having a flash card for a system is essential. you will be able to enjoy prototypes, homebrew, translations, and hacks. one of my favorite hacks is the mario clash controller fix by dogp, which switches the jump/throw buttons and adds a run button.
i used a grinder to make my 4.5 mm bit thinner and then a dremel to cut out a bit at the top for a normal screw driver. it worked perfectly. after that i replaced all the screws so i’ll never need to go through that again.
if you go this route make sure your bit is thin enough to fit in the deeper holes. mine got stuck while i was test fitting it and i had to dig it out.
you can also notch a flat head screw driver so that it will grip the screw on two sides. grab a .99 cent store type screw driver and cut out a bit of the center.
if you want to replace your screws, pick up pan phil sheet metal screws #4 x 1/2 plated. if you are going to use a magnetic driver or a magnetizer, make sure you do not get stainless steel.
the oven method is not permanent, and you risk damage to your cables. what you should do is post in one of the threads about this problem and find one of our capable members who is willing to solder your cables.
DogP recently fixed 20 sets of cables. RunnerPack has fixed a few sets, 1 for at least one of our members. TheForce81 was fixing them for awhile but may no longer be doing so.
wario has sound on the main menu. put in the cart and turn on the vb. wait about 5 seconds and then press A. wait about 5 more and then press A again. now you are on the “automatic pause” screen, so press A again. after that the intro will play and you will have sound. does it work?
if yes, and you are not getting any images, then it is probably an issue with the cables. nintendo used glue to connect two parts of the display cables together, and after 18 yrs that glue no longer holds up. if this is the issue then this is an extremely common problem that pretty much all of us have experienced.
there are a few ways you can fix this but all of them require opening up your VB. you can either make a screw driver to do this or buy a gamebit and modify it. there are also some screw drivers already designed to work that are long enough to reach the deepest screws.
just to reassure you, opening up the vb and taking out the display cables is REALLY easy. its a few screws, and then everything neatly pulls apart. the displays are also screwed in and will require a small precision phillips screw driver. if you do open it up, consider replacing the security screws with something more common. i used pan phil sheet metal screws #4 x 12 plated. they were a perfect fit.
finding someone to solder your cables may be easier than you think, we have a few qualified members here on this site. =)
i hate how the term “trolling” is thrown around so easily now. an internet troll is someone who derails a conversation into an off-topic discussion designed to elicit an emotional response, on purpose. i don’t see any trolling here at all in what vb-fan said. remember, he/she was only responding to what was already said by segagamer99. the comments read more like strong opinions that were pulled from some memory that made the comments seem true for that individual. misinformed, perhaps? i really do not know because i am not an eye specialist, nor do i wish to take the time to research the human eye just to make a response.
what segagamer99 did was more along the lines of trolling. their comments derailed the discussion about a virtual boy remake by tossing the oculus rift into the mix. i’m not sure if being rude was his/her intention, so i won’t assume. however, the “…” at the end makes it seem like everyone else is just stupid for not knowing about the rift and that this entire thread should just be lost and forgotten.

i’ve replaced my security screws with regular screws, and i am not opposed to opening up my vb. i am thinking about taking out the lenses and then shopping around for some glass (or some type of plastic) inserts. i’m pretty sure that i can find a place here, i just need to get it for the right price and make sure i have the tools to cut it.
i want to experiment with some flat lense covers first. i think the shape of the lenses is causing some of my issues. when i look out the corner of my eye i see blurred images, but if i move my head and then look over everything is clear. i have some clear plex here that looks to be about the right thickness. i am going to cut a bit off, as soon as i have time, and see how it works. right now i just want to toy with the shape of the lenses. if i like it then i’ll shop around for the right material.
i just saw a car show on tv that was building a gaser drag car and they used colored lexan. perhaps that would work?
Can you recommend for me a brand name polish that you know would work? I tried calling around a bit and got a few different answers, as it seems no one was sure what would work exactly.
I’m still thinking about trying to find someone to make me custom glass inserts. Can someone recommend a way to get red glass or perhaps another product that I should be researching?
