Dust caps are usually priced around $4 ea on eBay, but they hardly sell. I think you could ask $2 ea and that would be fair for both parties. Then again, if $22 isn’t much to you then why not consider giving them away to PlanetVB members, just ask them to pay shipping.

I would like to see a port of Doom or Wolfenstein. I think the 3D effect would work great with such a game.

The VB needs more platformers. a 2D styled platformer would be a lot of fun.

An RPG would be great. I played a few homebrew projects that only took about 2 hrs to beat but had great RPG elements. With the addition of 3D (buildings reached up toward our eyes, trees stretched to the sun, spells wrapped all around enemies) so many effects could be added to bring life to such a game.

A rogue-like dungeon crawler with 3D environments would be a lot of fun. Imagine all the elements and characters used an angled camera, so its like top-down but with depth.

I always wanted to see VB remakes of Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and The Uninvited. Those games would work really well on the VB. The 3D would aid each scene while the second d-pad could be used to control various pop-up menus so that the screen wasn’t cluttered with interface (like the original NES ports).

Something like Dragon’s Lair would be really fun. Cartoon-like sprites in a story driven game. The 3D would work great here as well.

There are some really fun Atari games that would be great on the VB. Simple games like Pitfall, Jungle Hunt, Sea Quest, etc. Basic games that would benefit from the 3D depth.

I can’t offer anything coding wise, but time permitting I would be happy to do some writing for a project. If someone needs a brief intro story or some dialogue, PM me.

I hope this competition brings many new experiences beyond demos, and equally hope that any demos are further developed into complete experiences.

The translated SD GDW is $80. For $20 more you can get a FlashBoy+ and enjoy every game, hack, translation, and homebrew. Unless you are a collector a FB+ is a better buy.

You should double check the alignment. Insert any game, and on the title screen input the following using the right D-Pad and buttons. LEFT, B, DOWN, A, UP. If the VB is aligned correctly then the vertical and horizontal lines will intersect.

I’ve read a few complaints about headaches which were all fixed by adjusting the displays so that the test aligned correctly.

i enjoy a lot but i always play wario land and mario clash. to get the most out of mario clash you need to apply the controller fix patch.

I don’t see a problem with this at all. He described them as being reproductions and started the price low. Everyone has the right to sell what they own, and finally someone is selling these games in a honest way.

Welcome to the site. Faceball wasn’t a homebrew, but instead an unreleased game. One of our community members worked really hard to make a deal for the prototype cart. The ROM was eventually dumped and the reproduction was made.

This is great news. I hope we see some awesome projects come from this. The Virtual Boy has untapped potential. There is no reason we can not have more commercial quality homebrew projects than actual official releases. All this competition needs is some press. If you belong to a reto community, a gaming site, a coding site, or have friends who love game development, 3D, etc, then get the word out. Let everyone know! 2013 will be the year of the Virtual Boy!

the download appears to be an updated version of the emu, not an altered ROM. =)

homebrew should always be about the fun. if you are still having fun and still learning new things, then keep it going. if you feel you have learned what you can then move onto another project that will inspire you in the same way.

What really upsets me is that he was intentionally vague about the origins of the cart. It ends up reading like its a unique item. The person buying it is getting ripped off. If he had been honest and mentioned what it was and how it was acquired then I wouldn’t have an issue with the auction.

Falsing leading a buyer into spending more than something is worth is immoral.

Everytime I set up an SNES emulator on a newly hacked system (or chinese handheld) I always play through Act Raiser and Zelda A Link To The Past. There are many other SNES games I really enjoy but those two I’ve beat more than a dozen times over the years.

only a couple of games actually had battery assisted saves. what games are you trying?

if they fail to save then you should test your battery to make sure its working. if the battery tests ok then it could be your connection or how the battery is seated. i had an issue with the 1st battery that came in my FB+, it seems that some of them had a film on them that had to be cleaned off. you could try cleaning it with some rubbing alcohol or just grab a new battery and give it a try.

I recently read that the final patch was sent off to MineStorm for the reproduction carts. Will this patch be released for FB+ users as well?
