I’ve got a 3DS since launch and I really tried to like it, but I just don’t.
IMO the only two really good games are Zelda and Starfox and I’ve already played those on the N64.
I thought Resident Evil would pull me back in, but I just don’t like it. it’s beautiful, but I truly hate the action parts.
RE should be a slow crawl, like 1-3, REmake and Zero. 4 was okay, 5 just sucked (as in: I don’t like it, other people possibly do) and Revelations resembles 4 and 5 too much.

So in short, it truly lacks games I like (and haven’t yet played 15 years ago)..
Looking forward to Castlevania though.

Playing Monster Max for the Game Boy at the moment, which is an under-appreciated gem.

Next up will probably be Gargoyle’s Quest (GB) or Metal Gear Solid (GBC).
I’m addicted to Game Boy games…

Hi there,

Are you absolutely sure there’s a game cartridge inserted? The VB doesn’t do anything without an inserted cartridge, unlike the original Game Boy for example.

Also, it takes a couple of seconds for the image to appear after you turn the system on.

I paid €260, but don’t tell anyone! 🙂
It seems to have passed customs. It was marked as a gift, declared value ¥2000 (yeah, right…) and it has’t been opened apparently. Keeping my fingers crossed, but I’m hoping that I won’t have to pay any duties.

It’s brand new. Never been played. The box has some wear, but that’s it. I’ve fired it up once (just the head unit) and it’s perfect.
It came with boxed (mint) copies of Mario Tennis and Panic Bomber.
That means I now have 3 copies of Mario Tennis, so if someone has something to trade…

I still need to get to those two screws in my other system, though it seems to behave normally at the moment. I’m gonna try tweaking one of my gamebits and I’ll contact you as soon as I get it open.

And today my second system arrived: a NIB Japanese one!
I just couldn’t pass up on it.

Now I just need to fix the first system and I’ll be settled for quite some time 🙂

And today it suddenly worked fine again.
This system is just perfect for sitting outside! No glare, no low brightness, just perfect.

I looked like a complete dork though… 🙂

Mario Tennis is strangely addicting.

It’s a gamebit with a longer shaft. You need one to remove some of the screws in a VB.

Bought an elongated gamebit, which appears to not be long enough!

Already contacted the seller and he says 1 in a hundred buyers complain about the length -of the gamebit 😀
I’ve already found another, longer one, but I’m really fed up with this… 🙁

So bad that I’m actually looking at a new Japanese system. I’d buy it in a heartbeat if the shipping wasn’t €70 and I’d probably get buggered by the customs for at least €100 more…

This was supposed to be a birthday present for myself, but it seems I’ll need more patience.

You’ve got some really nice stuff! I especially love the Galaga cabinet!

I bought a UMK3 cab a couple of years ago. With the MK1, MK2 and UMK3 PCB’s.
Pretty nice shape, though it needs some cosmetic work. I’ve already replaced all the joysticks and buttons (which are now perfect), but I’ll have to replace the t-molding one day (though it’s not so bad) and the monitor might need a cap kit. At the top there’s a little warble (not really noticeable) and I think I had to turn one of the colors to its maximum to get a decent picture. So cap kit I guess.

Or replace it altogether.

I’ve got a xxxx-in-1 system installed in it at the moment, with about 2000 games.

I’ve only once found a Galaga cab and it was really expensive 🙁

About CD-R wearing out the laser:

This is true with the first batch of backups. In those backups the data and audio portions on the disc were separated, causing the laser to go completely bonkers.
The sound you hear coming from the DC when playing these games, sounds like a floppy drive checking if there’s a floppy inserted.

Don’t play them, they will effectively ruin your DC.

All the self-booting games should be all right. I’ve never had any problems with mine (well, beside from the power supply pins needing a slight tweak, but that’s caused by something completely different).
