Sorry I’ve been slacking and not posting the links to the new videos here. Here’s the latest few:

Jack Bros

Virtual League Baseball

Mario Clash

Are you sure you are not confusing “3-D Tetris” with “V-Tetris”? I think 3-D Tetris has always been on the higher end of the VB spectrum in relative terms. V-Tetris on the other hand has always been one of the cheaper titles, particularly among the Japanese-only releases.

V-Tetris is the superior of the two IMO. 3D Tetris I found too disorienting.

I noticed a price increase with all the games. I look up current prices for the series I do and my jaw has dropped a few times.

They likely won’t be as in demand but will remain a collectors item, I’m sure.

Yep. I’m keeping mine. I love having a bit of VB homebrew history. 🙂

Thanks for making the patch!

Oh man, Kevin I’m so excited for this! I’ve been dying for a flashcart like this. I love my Flashboy+ but I would also like something that held more than one game. Like Roland, I’m also pretty intrigued by flash carts and what goes into them (despite being totally illiterate to knowing how to do it myself).

This is amazing! I am so excited to hear more!

They do but even with this, it would not even come anywhere close. The buyee fees are more or less okay. I buy often there.

Ah, good to know! I was under the impression that the fees they charged made up the difference in what eBay folks were asking.

EDIT: I too have noticed a huge surge in VB game and console prices. While going back for my video series on the games I normally go over what they’re currently going for in the market and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw what a loose Mario’s Tennis goes for. I remember when you’d be tripping over sellers trying to throw these games away. Now I see loose ones go for $10+!

That’s a gorgeous setup

What I can tell you straight is that the prices for VB Items on ebay are nonsense and nobody should buy it there!

There was a time when you just went to buyee/Yahoo auction and get the stuff. Now the japanese put all their stuff on ebay and add ridiculous amounts of money on the asking price + asking scarya amounts for shipping.
Here is a very good example right now:
(also made screenshots just in case)

Buyee:
http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/u145560835
11 Games 160 USD

And now have a look at ebay!

Same picturs, same games double the price plus shipping!
This is a general Ripoff and they all do this on ebay now.
People are asking for 400 USD for a boxed VB.
This prices are not justified at all because there is enough supply left.
The same goes for games Like Mario Clash japanese. This was a common a cheap game and still is but they sell it for like 80 USD or more BUT show a full factory box of like 20 new copies of the game and writing RARE! Fuck them!
In my oppinon, we really should make a PVB post on the front page letting people know what kind of scam is going on with VB items on ebay!

Doesn’t Buyee charge a substantial fee for shipping to someone outside fo Japan? I was always under the impression they charged for the proxy service. If not, then I need to get my shit together and look there more.

You seem to be making quick progress with this! Everything is looking good 🙂

That’s too flipping cute, Kevin!

I actually just had to check my PayPal.me link a little while ago since I forgot what it was lol. I personally don’t care if people see how much I donate but that’s just me. I think there might even be a way to work around it with a “screen name” of sorts.

I’m new to both platforms so if I learn anything new I’ll be happy to share 🙂

This topic got me to switch me from a long time lurker to proper account holder. It’s been great to read through everyone’s VB memories.

I tracked my Virtual Boy down with birthday funds in ’96 when Toys ‘R’ Us had them on clearance. When I scooped it up, I distinctly remember the consoles being $24.99 and games were $9.99. My $60 was able to get the system, Wario Land, Nester’s Funky Bowling and Galactic Pinball. I still have all of them to this day and since it was the first console I ever purchased with my own money, it gives me the fuzzies each time I fire it up.

Awesome to have you proper posting! The more in this small (but awesome) community the better! 🙂

I feel like the odd one out here to be honest. My Virtual Boy story is fairly recent, all things considered. In 2007/2008 I saw a video The Angry Video Game Nerd did on the system and for whatever reason really piqued my interest about the console. Prior that video I had never known it had existed and as a big Nintendo fan, I was shocked I never knew about it as a kid (especially with the weekly toy store trips my parents would take me on).

I was always interested in trying the Wario game out since I have always loved the Wario Land series. I eventually found an emulator years later and gave Wario Land a try. It was fun but hard to play without a proper controller. I figured the little taste of the VB I got through emulation was good enough and I wound up buying a console with a slight display issue and Wario Land back in June of 2014. Shortly after buying it I joined this forum and I’ve been heavily invested ever since. Granted nowhere near as invested as some of the other people here but that’s ok. I don’t have a job at the moment and haven’t been in the community as long 🙂

Awesome, thank you Minggus!

No, I removed it because it turns out that Patreon is not at all adequate as a donation platform. And that’s ironic, since half of YouTube apparently runs on it. It’s actually a subscription platform, and they do not facilitate one-time payments in any way. The proverbial last straw was when the first donator tried to donate and couldn’t because he didn’t have a credit card associated with his PayPal account, and Patreon requires payment methods to support recurring payments (and PayPal requires a credit card for those).

So instead, I’m just getting PayPal set up. I was on the phone with them a handful of times yesterday to figure out what went wrong with an ancient account and finally got that closed, freeing up my bank account to be used once again. As soon as their transactions are processed, I should be able to finalize it.

Fire-WSP: I sent you a file on Discord. Not sure if you regularly check Discord, but check Discord. (-:

Paypal.me is usually much easier for donations. I think it’s less of a fee than Patreon, too.

Wow, even in Japan it fetches THAT high of a price. Still cheap compared to other listings I’ve seen of the thing though.

Here is my gaming setup. The shelf is the KALLAX shelf from Ikea i pimped a bit.

Love it! I am so happy you posted this! So a 360 WILL fit into this shelves. I’m in a new house and my game room has no furniture yet. I was browsing IKEA and saw these and wondered if my consoles will fit inside of it. Your pictures have confirmed they will.

Do you remember the name of that glass cabinet/case too? I think I’ve seen them before on IKEA?

Thanks for sharing this with us! I’ll try to load it up and give it a go. Good luck on the project 🙂

Awesome, I thought the series ended for a little bit.

It was a temporary pause while I moved across the country. I still don’t have my game room set up but I didn’t want to waste any more time not making videos 🙂
