Mine works mint, but I still can’t help but thinking that getting a second solder fixed one would be a wise investment..
I mean what would I do if mine shat the bed and this service was no longer available??
“It’s known that Hudson Soft has a polygon shoot em up in development for the Virtual Boy”
Re-he-heallyy. So Vertical Force was planned to be a polygonal shooter at first I guess.
That whole Gunpei Yokoi interview is very interesting.
My guess is for now the 32Mbit boards are just for a certain 32MBit game, or perhaps other 32MBit games if more surface. However, maybe in the distant future a 32MBit flashboy might make sense, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up for anytime soon.
For now though, I’m very excited to see things are progressing along. Can’t wait to slide one of these bad boys in my VB’s cartridge slot =P
Yeah that laser disc is insanely priced. Would be very cool to have, just not $1000 cool.
That’s really cool! If only everyone was excited about it as this guy. Then it may have lasted and gotten a ton of games.

It’s a very good game, but suffers the same problem as most VB games — two dimensional images, set at three dimensional depths. The bosses are tough, especially the final one; use the “jump” disks to get all the lives and “snowballs/knives” you can, you’ll need them on the final.Make it through the entire game without losing a man, wait out the credits, and there’s a secret code that allows you to play SUPER mode. Make it through the SUPER game, and there’s a secret code for a “pixie game”.
Yeah I have the Japanese one already, so I’ve played it. Haven’t beaten it yet though, thanks for the tips!

Maybe it’s that thing in Jack Bros level 3 or whatever that obscures part of the playing field 😉Based on pics and 3 seconds of gameplay I’ve seen of Dragon Hopper, I feel like that game has level design similar to Jack Bros…but you actively jump up and down to the different planes. Maybe?
I laughed pretty good at the “dark cover” or whatever it’s called. It could be!
I dunno about Dragon Hopper being similar, the levels seem more open and less maze like. But, I guess we’d have to play it to know exactly what it’s like =P
Actually you’re right. I remember that picture too, complete with the strange blurry rectangle above the cart and everything. If it is a typo and it’s $100..then I might actually be a little interested.
While we’re on the topic of insanely over priced VB stuff:
Sorry, wasn’t trying to make you feel dumb. It doesn’t mean to give up either. If you’re interested, then look into it and learn about it =D

Nope. No zooming in. Just a copy and paste from google images.I will admit. Was very lazy with it. Just wanted a photo to quickly post on this site. I never spam though. My mother owns a virtual boy and i have been a fan ever since wario land and some of the other releases like galactic pinball and panic bomber.
So much fun 😀
My vocabulary isn’t so great. Like I said Graduated in 08.
Was terrible in english even then. Ha ha.
He was just using JPEG as a comparison to MP3, it has nothing to do with your avatar. He’s saying that MP3 is a lower quality format for music, kind of like how JPEG is a lower quality format for pictures.

What’s that case there KJ?? Looks like some fancy, color-matched homemade one 🙂And what is that giant Game Boy thing Arvester?
A quick Google of the number on there reveals it’s a generic case for AV equipment.
And that Gameboy display unit is awesome, Arvester. Want!
Here’s a small collection for those interested. I recorded this music for my vidoes, and I also use a couple for ring tones and such as well. I figured since we’re on the subject I may as well share. It includes:
Bound High intro song
Faceball Intro song
4 of my favorite Jack Bros songs
4 of my favorite Panic Bomber songs
Galactic Pinball high score song
T&E Golf course select song
All recorded off my Virtual Boy. Any requests, let me know.
I had to remove one of the Panic Bomber songs to get it within the attachable size limit. Here’s a link to the same song I uploaded here (although without the fade out..)

If those rumors about the very secretive Dragon Hopper owner are true, I highly doubt that he would have left the game undumped, as surely he would know that the cart could go bad any day. Thus, he probably managed to get it dumped by some means, and thus, the ROM is out there at least on one computer. But yes, if we are ever going to get Dragon Hopper, we must find some other source.
That’s a good point. I did hear the rumor about a very private rom dump that was shared with a select few, but again, those are just rumors.
I do hope a copy emerges from the depths of secrecy eventually though.
Wow, you’re mom is pretty cool if she has 4 Virtual Boys. I’d love it if my mom was into them as well =P
I don’t know about the emulator speed setting, but it’s worth a shot I guess. Like it said, it’s very slight and hard to notice, so no big deal or anything if it doesn’t work.
Ahhh, that makes sense then.
But you’re right, that’s very close. The ping noise was the only thing I really noticed. I’d mention the ever so slightly faster tempo but it’s so close unless you hear them one after the other you’d never notice.
The ping sound isn’t terrible, I’m just kind of a perfectionist when it comes to video game music. It’s still a very complete collection that most people will enjoy.
Irrelevant edit: I just realized posts 10 & 11 are duplicates. Sorry, my bad.

Dammit, none of the cool stuff ships outside the States >_<
There had to be a few prototype carts I would think. It was playable at E3, which had to have been on more than one unit, looking at the videos there were a few Virtual Boys to set up.
Apparently one of the carts is owned by someone who treats it like their baby and most likely won’t ever part with it or dump it, because they feel elite or something owning the only known copy. Childish, really.
Hopefully another cart surfaces though, I would love to play the game.
I’m having an issue with the “percussion” after listening to it a little more. It’s very noticeable in track 7. There seems to be a ping kind of sound with every beat, which is not there normally. I’ve attached a copy of the music file I recorded off my VB using the sound test patch if you’d like to compare.

This does look pretty amazing on the 3DS. Although they’d HAVE to include an original red function.. if they were to actually do this.
