Cosmoliner. Thanks, agree be nice to show off the PCB/Electronics inside.

KJ4860. Apricated, another vote for the clear case.

V-SNES. That a neat idea. It is possible to run the mold for Clear/Red & again for Clear/Black. Then can do your combo colors idea or matching colors as option. There is a cost to run different colors in the mold. In past meeting with mold and plastic supplier they actually have to do full blown tests with each color shade. Given how this ABS is special blend. Like anything else in Virtual Boy its unique. I’ll run standard grey first this year then look into this in future. Correct, we seen the translucent colors more popular than solid colors on N64 side of things. Its either original or translucent colors with most.

MrFlower. Well Received! We actually started this project 4 years ago as knew the day will come when we’ll run out of OEM shells. Also, cleaning OEM shells gets old fast. So was lucky get at very good price at expense of moving slowly and before inflation really hit. Each major team member chipped in as joint investment; Vintex put in the most. Yet, going take few years still to pay off the mold, but in short, we’ll just break even. It’s more for fun, support community, and the molding shop take pride in this being only mold/tooling of its kind in existence and how there be steady demand for it. The same goes for the connector supplier.

Anyone else, your color vote counts?

This some quick notes from top of my head. The ROM is based on common circuit 5V EPROM pin/outs from that era. I got some datasheets that reflect Nintendo OEM chips closely. Let me know and can email them.

The SRAM is very common/standard pin/outs. Can simply google data sheet for part number on OEM chips. Got a few of these p/n and datasheets at my end can email too. Modern day version is the “AS6C6264” which a drop-in replacement.

For the “Automatic Battery Backup Switch chip”. That little tricky, I find different manufactures put a new slight spin on this. You have original Nintendo OEM versions. You have modern day version. And different way to wire them up. Then you have nvSRAM and don’t need altogether. If the goal of this project opensource for any builder you can make compatible for original Nintendo OEM 4 pin, modern day versions of chip, even the nvSRAM, one design/PCB to rule them all, etc.

I’m more fan of modern day “Automatic Battery Backup Switch chips” as they are much more reliable for save data, but with chip shortage they are not as easy to get. I actually cleared out one supplier complete inventory.

All the best,

Another hardware developer in town. Nice project and progress! Don’t let anything stop you.

Let everyone know how the Red Alarm Repro holds up; I try to make our stuff indestructible. Also, nice get more positive visibly on our repro work.

If need any free/sample connectors to help just let us know.

I’m even commenting on this.

The Link Cable, he actually purchased from me for $40. So to reply to “Cosmoliner” I don’t get my full $60. In the picture its my older prototype with black tape wrapped around ends; I only made one like this; lower athletics looking cable why I sold it at reduced $40 price. We’ll I guess if he purchased at $60 he’ll add another $200 to his price. And maybe this one-of-a-kind black tape model is a collectors item. All my Link Cables have a shrink tube jacked by the way.

He got my Bound High reproduction’s also at an insane price of $569.05. I have it on my website for $53. My reproduction dust cap & all.

This gets even more insane, because, one of my shipment that went to this guy got lost before left the country. Yet, I’m pretty sure someone stole that shipment. So this crook shipment, had another crook steal from this crook.

It was also the first and currently the only shipment that ever got lost; we’ll I’m quite sure stolen. And I bet the thief is selling it on eBay now.

Thanks. Sure. The Connector design is done, the supplier cutting the molding steel now. I will have the first connector samples in April. Larger production of the connector will follow shortly after. The shell design being tweaked but will have a mold made later this year. I have a lot of official shells in stock, so I do not need to mass-produce the shells until later.

If of interest, we do stock & will be making more Link Cables soon. So if anyone like a special color request please let us know in coming weeks. Yet, if prefer Kevin Link Cable we do not mind. Not sure what happened to your shopping cart, Jimmya, but we sold 3 Link Cables last month. The cart is working most of the time, but the odd time it can go down. Sorry about that. https://www.vintex64.com/store/p196/VBLinkCable.html
