Oh this was to add the board to a friend’s unit that wanted to capture some footage, not changing one that I already had installed.

or maybe one from a zip disc as well

Looks like it could be the plastic case from a mini disc.

Seconded, I really want to find a VGA version of the board and potentially the servo emu. I’ll eventually resort to trying to make my own but was hoping someone else already had some available or left over.

unfortunately only the parts listed

I have a spare rgb version board. Let me know if you’d be interested.

I already asked them and they mentioned that you can install one video board on each side of the main board.

So my current plan is to make a standalone VB console that has both RGB and VGA outputs. Seeing as I have a spare main VB board with no LED displays.

Oof, yeah it looks like it. I was planning on getting it for a spare head unit that doesn’t have the LED boards. So connecting the internal LEDs wasn’t really a concern of mine.

I’ll edit my earlier post to show it’s not quite as easy as cutting a hole.

After talking to them apparently it’s an adapter that connects between the main VB board and the LED displays.

So it would go like

Main Board -> Virtual Tap Mod -> Regular LED display

The only real modification to the system itself you have to do is to create a hole somewhere in the plastic casing for the video port to come out.

Edit:

As pointed out below, it looks like you’ll need to solder the original ribbon cable to connect this board to the original internal displays. Not quite as plug in play as I expected but still great that someone has created this mod.

Check the output voltages on both ac adapters. All AC adapters list the input and output voltages required. Input would be the power required from the wall (120, 220V etc.), while output is what is sent to the actual system. As long as the output voltages and the plug is the same, there shouldn’t be a problem using a PAL SNES power adapter on a US VB.

For example I use a US power adapter on a PAL Wii U. As we live in the US and have 120V.

Hopefully this helps.

Just played through the new warioware. There is no 3d anywhere in the game. It’s 2d only.

If your displays ever start acting up again, feel free to let me know. I’m also located in the greater Seattle area and can do the solder repair for the glitchy displays.

Best of luck with the awesome prototype!

Hey Jeff, I have a vb head unit with no led display boards in it. I’m located in the US but if you’d be interested, feel free to send me a pm.

Thanks! As for the tripod adapter I actually just got the tripod first and made the file myself. If anyone wants the file I attached it below, but it’s a pretty atypical stand compared to the standard flat plate – screw in tripod stands.

Thanks! Hopefully when I have more time I can try stripping the paint and doing a better job the second time.

Managed to find a head unit with the eye shade pieces, if anyone has a spare controller please let me know!

I mean it’s always pretty easy to get a VB off ebay, but seeing as this would be a secondary unit, I’m trying to get it as affordable as possible. My ideal ebay listing would be a heat unit with the eye shade parts and the controller (if it was cheaper due to the glitching displays that would be even better). I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask here as well.

That one looks like they changed the recommended ages. The original print with the mom picture basically says to not let kids play the VB unsupervised. But that section is changed from “When letting a child play” to “Appropriate user ages.” The new version basically says to not let anyone between the ages of 0-6 play the VB, period.

From what I can tell, the actual content hasn’t changed much between the two versions. Mostly the order they’re displayed in. Maybe it was something to do with the complaints of the system once it was actually released? And then changing the instructions to show the most important things at the top? Like the original version without the 1 at the end has a blurb on pirated cartridges on the front side, which is moved to the back side in what I assume is the later printing.
