Are there any pictures of the plug inside the JP adapter for the controller? I can’t remember if I could ever find any.

It’s quite strange that they went with such an unusual plug for the US power pack, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one with an internal pin like that on anything before.

I know it’s usually not recommended but would it work with a “universal adapter” type thing ? The kind where you can choose the voltage and everything… Otherwise I’ll probably get the one you recommend.

If you mean like a vitage-adjustable power pack, I’ve been using one of those to power my Virtual Boy, through a power adapter I whipped together from a few spare parts. I tried to find something that matched the input rating of the VB, but looking at it now I see it only lists a voltage of 6V-9V and no amperage. Can’t remember at all what I searched for or found to settle on the powerpack I did, but it rates itself at 12V max and 1.0A max, and I run it set to 9V. Hasn’t fried anything yet, so I guess it must be ok? 😛

Hm. I was just thinking “whoa, what? He soldered the wires right onto the back of the controller? :o”, seeing it as kind of destructive or whatever. But then if I were to open up the VB and do the whole strip-back thing on the ribbon cables and solder those on, I wouldn’t think anything of it.

In conclusion, I am probably silly.

Thanks for the warm welcome 🙂 Took a while to get back here, but the holiday season has a way of keeping you out and about. Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year.

There was actually a time just a little over a year ago when I said to myself, “there is no way that I am going to pay over $100.00 for just one video game.”

Haha, I know that feeling. It’s still more or less the same for me though – the most I’ve paid for a game was $114 for Conker’s Bad Fur Day, back when it was brand new. I think the next priciest was RE4 Collector’s Edition, which was $105.

Kinda handy living where I do, nowadays. Basically makes all these things half-price in my mindset compared to the equivalent for an American 😛 Definitely can’t see myself buying a ~15yo game for more than the price of two brand new games…

Haven’t got the gear to give it a go yet, but once I do…!

Great work, thunderstruck.

Wow. I’d only be half able to follow this normally, but I’m in holiday mode and everything is even harder to focus on. But still all very fascinating, the things you’ve been going through here. Great work!

Guess I should throw mine up here.

My first one was from eBay, came in a Blockbuster case from a guy in Ohio. VN10060888[5]

Second one was from… Kentucky? Came loose, smelt of smoke. Still kinda does, actually, despite a good airing. VN10071480[7]

Wow, I come here because of Bound High and find this too? You guys are amazing. I fully support the ideals of the games liberation army 😛 Whenever I get some hard-to-come-by piece of Nintendo gear or whatever, I can’t wait to take it around for everyone to get to play, and can’t understand why you’d want to keep it away from everyone. Though that said the whole world of prototypes and secretive private collectors and stuff does seem rather intriguing… it’d be interesting to see some kind of documentary on it actually. Hmm.

Wait, I’m rambling again. Ugh. ADMIRABLE WORK! I’m definitely down for a copy once this gets off the ground.

UncleTusker, you are both awesome an terrible – this is a totally rad thing to do, but it’s also the complete opposite of what my wallet needs right now!

Once I saw that there’s “a few” left, panic got the better of me and I hopped on board. Well played, sir 😛
